Summary: You return home after not visiting for three years. This time you bring your boyfriend with you to see your parents. The day goes by perfectly, but something that evening makes the day even more special for the both of you.
"Is your seatbelt on?" Junhee asks me for the millionth time as we continue our drive.
"Yes, it's on, sweetie." I chuckle as I hold the belt away from my chest to prove it. "You've asked me that a lot."
"I just want to make sure." He says as he settles back in his seat and takes in a deep breath.
I look over at him and take one hand off the steering wheel to take his hand in mine, his eyes growing wider. "Is that really why you keep asking me?"
Jun's cheeks flush pink as he continues to stare out the window while I drove. His hands were clammy in mine and held a slight shake to them. Confirming my assumptions. Jun and I had decided to make a trip back to my home town to visit my parents after being away from them for more than three years. I had only been dating Jun a year and they had only seen him through face time. So they were eager to meet him. But Jun was still nervous.
"Jun," I say gently, making him look at me. "They are going to love you."
Jun gives me a small smile and brings my hand to his lips before placing a delicate kiss on it. The feeling making butterflies erupt in my stomach.
"I hope so sweetheart." He says, trying his hardest to not show his nerves.
We continue driving for another hour, I keep talking to distract Jun from his nerves. Occasionally getting him to laugh or smile. We eventually come to my small home town and I take it slow as we pass through the town. I show him the high school I attended and tell him stories about old classmates. I pass my favorite small ice cream and tell him about the times my father would take me there after I had gotten a good grade to celebrate. I point out the library too, where I spent hours reading my favorite books but also studying for my exams.
We wind down a road for a few miles before my house appears on the horizon. I can feel Jun tense beside me. His breath shaky and his leg bouncing nervously. I pull into the driveway slowly and smile as a feeling of happiness to be home again washes over me. It had been too long, and I had forgotten how much I loved home.
A few minutes later my parents walk out the door smiling widely to greet us. My mother waving at us in excitement. I wave back and unbuckle my seatbelt before turning to Jun. I smile at him as I run a few fingers down his cheek, making him relax into my touch.
"They're going to love you." I tell him again before we both step out of the car to greet my parents.
The rest of the day passes in a blur of helping my mom prepare dinner for us, my dad talking to Jun about what life in the city was like and where Jun grew up and what he did for work. My mom smiled sweetly at Jun often as she handed him a glass of water and patted his shoulder. I smile at Jun often from across the table as he slowly relaxes into the environment and starts to relax.
Jun's cheeks flush red when my mom pulls out the scrapbooks and starts thumbing through them and showing him pictures of me when I was a baby. He patiently listens to all the stories she rambles off and gives me a wink with certain embarrassing stories. Confirming my suspicion that I would never live it down.
Midnight rolls around, the first day of me being home having passed so quickly. I stand at the sink washing the few remaining dishes while Jun dries them and sets them on the counter for me to put away since I know where they go. My parent's having gone to bed already.
"There's one thing I haven't seen since we got here." Jun says as he dries a plate.
"What's that?" I hum in response.
"Your bedroom." He says quietly.
I feel my heart flutter and my stomach turn. I meet Jun's eyes slowly, the tips of his ears red but his dark eyes hazy. I finish washing the dishes and putting them away before taking Jun's hand in mine as leading him up the stairs, down a narrow hallway and entering the room at the end of the hall.
I smile at the familiar smell of my bedroom. The white curtains still hung on my two big windows. The soft yellow bed cover with small flowers still was tucked neatly into my bed. The old fashioned radio I used to blast as a kid still sat on my desk.
I go and sit down on my twin bed and let the flood of memories come back that had been made in my room. The good and the bad. Jun steps inside and looks around slowly, his eyes landing on a trophy on my desk.
"I didn't know you had a trophy." He says, going to hold it in his hands.
"I used to run track in high school." I explain, relishing the memory. "Me and my team won against an opposing team once. It was a lot of fun."
"Is that why you jog so much?" Jun teases, placing the trophy down gently.
"It helps clear my head." I answer, smiling up at him.
Jun stands in the center of my room and continues looking around. There wasn't much left in my room since I had taken most of it with me when I moved. But there were still a few things that made it feel like a bedroom a girl would have.
"So this is where you grew up." Jun says, gesturing at the things surrounding him.
"It is. And you're the first boy that's ever been in my room."
Jun's mouth falls open, but no words escape. His speechlessness making me giggle. A nervous chuckle leaving his chest. I hold my hands out to him, which he takes and kisses the palms of both my hands.
"I'm glad you're here." I whisper, rubbing gentle circles into his hands.
Jun cups my face gently, kissing my nose before whispering, "I'm glad you shared this part of your life with me."
I smile and wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me to kiss his mouth. His mouth presses against mine gently, not moving for a moment as his hands slide to my ribs. He moves his head to the side to encase my lips fully with his. Making me sigh out against his mouth and a shuttering breath escape his.
Jun lays me down gently on the bed, his body hovering over mine but our lips never parting from each other. A heat rises between us as the kiss becomes deeper and Jun presses my body more firmly into the mattress. His lips dragging against my neck. My first night home passing with soft gasps and sighs that escape our lips, our shirts falling to the floor silently, and the occasional sound of the mattress groaning under our weight as we shifted positions.
