A/N: this is slightly unedited and I won’t be posting much this week on a personal note, but once my schedule clears up I’ll go through and refine things in this!

“Ralph! Ralph! Ralph, come back here!”

You were on your run in downtown Chicago with a group of friends when a dog was full on sprinting towards you, you bent down grabbimv a hold of the dogs collar nearly falling over doing so as the dog began to lick your face.

“Hey, buddy, looks like someone got away from their owners, huh?” You chuckled to yourself taking your headphones out ruffling the dogs fur as you looked at the dog tag in your hands reading the phone number starting to dial it on your phone as you got up from the ground taking a hold of the dogs leash letting him pull you around as you waited for the owner to pick up.

“Hello?” The person who picked up seemed to be out of breath, as you would assume the owner was trying to run after the dog you have with you.

“I think I have your dog. His name is Ralph?” You asked catching up with your friends now still on the phone as they all stopped running and started paying attention to the puppy that had run up to you.

You heard a sigh of relief on his end as you heard him tell someone you had the dog, “Oh thank god! Where are you? My friend and I will come get him off your hands I’m so sorry if he hurt you.”

“Oh no he didn’t hurt me he’s quite cute though but I’ll send you my whereabouts and you can come get him!”

You sat outside a Starbucks with Ralph giving him some water when the dog started going crazy as you saw a guy come running up to the dog, “ralphie!” He shouted hugging the dog as the dog started licking him all over and you started laughing standing up from the table setting the cup of water down.

“My friend is really happy you found him.” He chuckled as the guy who was hugging the dog stood up adjusting himself putting out his hand, “thank you so so much I don’t know how to pay you!”

You laughed shaking his hand as you shook your head at his generosity as you now stuffed your hands into your legging sidepockets, “no worries, he was perfectly fine, how’d you guys lose him anyway?” You asked and as the one guy ran his fingers through his messy hair, “Ralph got loose somehow, he slipped from my hands and took off. I’m Alex by the way this is my friend Dylan.”

“Oh okay, I’m y/n, but how did a tiny dog over power you?” You asked pointing at Alex now letting out a laugh, he was quite a bulky guy for his height you had no idea how such a small animal could tug so much that he broke free.

“Honestly, I don’t know.” He chuckled as Ralph started trying to climb up your legs as Alex pulled him away, “Ralph, be nice.” He demanded and you laughed bending down, “I’m sorry your dad is mean to you, ralphie.” You smiled petting his head as he closed his eyes seeming to enjoy the rubs.

“Seems like ralph likes her more than you.” Dylan laughed as you stood up from petting Ralph looking down at your Apple Watch seeing your friends were down the street getting ready to head to lunch which you promised to join them at after giving Ralph back to his rightful owners.

“Well thank you a lot, you don’t know how much this means to me.” Alex sighed as Dylan took the leash from his hands and he and Ralph started to head in your friends direction.

“Can I maybe take you out to lunch sometime? Or maybe Ralph and I can?” He chuckled nervously rubbing the back of his neck and you smiled nodding your head, “you have my number, you can call me whenever.” You said as your friends started approaching you and Alex, “I hope to see you and Ralph the next time yes?” You asked starting to walk away with your friends looking back at Alex, “yeah! I’ll call you! Or Ralph will find you!”
