The way I imagine these 3's dynamic works is Alfred almost works like a shield between the two, and Francis and Arthur keep him in the middle no matter what to almost try to protect him from each other since they both think the other is ruining Alfred.

No matter where they are, it's always Alfred sandwiched inbetween them.
