19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

Okay, so! I started when I was around 16 I think. I was knee deep in my Elijah Wood obsession (god I’m old) and was making up little stories about him and I. I began writing one down to keep track of it. Smart as I am (lol), one day I wondered, ‘Hm… has anybody written their little stories down and posted them online? 🤔’ That’s how I found fanfiction.

I stopped for a looong while when I got my first boyfriend. It felt weird writing and dreaming about other guys when in a relationship (ah, youth)

My best friend of the time re-introduced me to fanfics when I was about 25. I started writing again, but this was long before reader inserts were a thing so I started writing OCs. I made so many intricate OCs that I don’t remember. Because my friend shamed me for it. ‘No one wants to read about your OCs. Write character x character instead - here, I have suggestions that I want you to write!’ (terrible friend in hindsight. But she was my only friend, and I had developed a crush on her so I couldn’t see it 😣)

So I took yet another break from fanfiction, both reading and writing. It hurt a bit too much.

I picked it up again a while after Kingdom Hearts 3 came out. And I discovered reader inserts, which solved a lot of my problems. It’s not OCs which no one wants to read (I know that isn’t true but that was still how I felt at the time) but it also allows me to put some version of myself in the fic. Perfect! So I started writing again. It’s been almost 5 years since I posted my first set of headcanons, and so far I haven’t stopped, other than for mental health breaks.

As for where I’m going… not sure! But I want to change the way I look at writing. I feel like I’m sometimes a bit too focused on writing what people want to read instead of what I want to write. Which might be why I often end up so burned out. So I’m trying to change that.

33. Do you practice any other art besides writing? Does that art ever tie into your writing, or is it entirely separate?

Does being a hobby musician count as art? I mean, I don’t write songs, I just play other people’s music 🤣 But does it tie in… 🤔 I always get very inspired by music, I always listen to music as I write so I guess so

🍎 Is there anything you straight-up won’t write? Probably straight dark content. I don't like to consume it and I don't like to write it. If I must (for the sake of a story, and I've dabbled a little bit in some WIPs) then I prefer that the fic at least has a happy ending.

🍊 Who’s a character you don’t write for that often, but keep meaning to write for more? (They’re so interesting! But maybe you have trouble pinning them down, or keep getting distracted by another blorbo…) Kyoujurou! I absolutely want to write more for him! I have one idea that I'm toying with (a fic inspired by The Brothers Lionheart so it would include Senjurou too) but I keep getting distracted by other things.

🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.) I can never seem to find much content about Cyno. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places... I hope I'll be able to find more once his new story quest is up, which should also clear up a lot about his past which have been left frustratingly vague so far

Spring. I love seeing all the flowers and summer birds returning.

We had my sister-in-law and her family over for the first time this past weekend. Everything went well despite that we’re not used to hosting. It was good seeing them again.

This one is gonna be super personal 🫣I really appreciate that I’m getting more into cuddling with my SO. One of his love languages is touch and mine is… very much not that. I’m neurodivergent and get touched out easily. But lately I’ve really been appreciating our long morning cuddles. Only took, like, 5 years

55. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics?  Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

I’ve noticed that I use the phrase ‘couldn’t help but __’ a lot. I know that I also use nature themes a lot, but generally I’m really bad at noticing these kinds of things 😅 Have any of you noticed patterns that keep reappearing in my fics? 👀👀

72. What’s your favorite writing compliment you’ve gotten?

I’ve gotten quite a few sweet comments like ‘didn’t know I needed this’ and ‘omg you should all read this!!’ but one of the ones that really sticks out to me is a comment that my writing was (partially) the reason a reader started writing again. The feeling that I’ve inspired someone that much - even if I was only one part of a bigger bout of inspiration - really makes me happy 🥹

7. Post a snippet from a wip.

Okay, so this needs a little bit of explanation. It’s from an upcoming fic called ‘Dragon’s Heart’, a fantasy fic with human!reader and dragon!Kirishima. The reader has been poisoned and has been suffering from high fevers and delirium and Kiri has been taking care of them for several days at this point.

「The first thing you noticed, as you fought to pull your mind from the depth of sleep, was Eijirou’s soft voice. It rose and fell, repeating the same pattern again and again. It took your addled mind a while to realize that he was singing to himself, and even longer before you could make out the words of his song.

Frigid winds are howling Ravens cry and wolves are prowling Seeking food and seeking rest Snowflakes fall, the cold is stinging In the trees no birds are singing Taking shelter in their nests

It slowly dawned on you why your fever dreams were full of the cries of birds and wolves, he must have been singing this exact song while you slept. Staying still, you listened as he drew in a deep breath, then continued,

All around are yearning For the warmth, yet frost is burning Still the wind blows from the North Come South-West who bests the winter Earth will thaw and ice will splinter  As she guides the springtime forth

Springtime. You could barely wait for spring. Eyes slowly closing again, you fell back asleep, your mind filled with the image of dots of vibrant green and yellow peeking out through the snow.」

Not sure when I’ll get this finished, I’ve been working on it for years at this point 😅

The song is a very loose translation of a Danish folk song called ‘It Is White Outside’ (‘Det Er Hvidt Herude’ by St. St. Blicher). I’m so sad that I couldn’t include the part about South-West and their wings of fog. It literally goes ‘come South-West who bests the frost / come with your wings of fog / come and release the bound earth’ (Kom sydvest som frosten tvinger / kom med dine tågevinger / kom og løs den bundne jord)

22. Are there certain types of writing you won't do? (style, pov, genre. tropes, etc)

The first one that springs to mind is angst without at least a hopeful ending. I just... I can't do it, it makes me so upset. I love the characters I write for and - while I don't mind torturing them a little bit throughout the fic - I ultimately want them to be happy.

Another one is ship fics. I read them on occasion, but I have no urge to write them myself. And I don't want to end up in the middle of a war on what rare-pairs are valid or not.

40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

I genuinely cannot pick 😭 ANY fanart based on my writing would be SO MUCH appreciated!!

55. Of the characters you write for. which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/reader's reactions to certain ones?

My faves are forever Kiri and Kyoujurou. I need to write more for both of them. I don't feel like my feelings for them have been swayed, but I am starting to warm up to other characters like Shouto and Bakugou, mostly through my moots talking about them.

6. Do you have your work beta'd? How important is it to your process?

I rarely do... It's happened a couple of times. but I don't have a set beta-reader and I feel kind of bad asking my moots to beta unless I feel really insecure about a fic. Everybody is so busy. I ought to do it more though, me being ESL means that I occasionally have a weird way of phrasing things...

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

Too many to count! 🤣 I have well over 20 WIPs that need some work. But since we're going to be talking about Just Maybe later, I can bring up the kinda-sequel/rewriting of the ending I'm trying to write for it. I was never fully happy with the ending but I just wanted the fic finished, so I'll be remedying that with a more detailed ending.

25. What fic do you wish you got more of a response on?

All of them tbh. I rarely get a lot of feedback other than likes/kudos

41. Do you tend to re-read fics or are you a one-and-done kind of person?

It's rare that fics (or any form of storytelling, really) leaves enough of an imprint on me that I want to go back and experience it again. For a lot of fics I read them, I like and reblog, or kudos and leave a comment, and then I completely forget I ever read it. It's a shame really, but my memory is like a holey sieve, nearly everything slips through the gaps. That said, I ought to go back and re-read some of my faves.

75. What scene in [Fanfic Name] took the longest to write? What was difficult about it.

I think both the break up and the getting back together scene of Just Maybe took equally long. The break up scene was rough 'cause I don't like the idea of the reader making Kiri sad on purpose, but it was something that needed to happen. I also struggled a bit with Kiri's reaction. He's already mourning his long term relationship ending, he wants to fix it and realizing that he cannot. And I wanted to make sure that he stayed in character; I didn't want him to get overly possessive or aggressive - the breakup had to be a mutual decision or the getting back together part wouldn't have felt right.

And that was my whole point of writing that fic; I wanted to write an exes-to-lovers fic (another part of why I'm not satisfied with the ending, they never get back to being lovers again) so getting back together had to be a mutual want as well as a healthy decision. It wouldn't work if the same issues of Kiri never being home, and the reader feeling like a second choice kept cropping up. There had to be some major change, so it took some planning out.

i love your characterization of him in that fic, that he’d be so focused on trying to do his best as a hero that he’d let our relationship with him suffer 🥺😭 that he’d fight for us when we try to leave him but ultimately let it stand because he doesn’t want to force it when when’ve made up our mind. that we meet again, still in love, and give it a chance!!!! ahhhhhh!!!!

I'm so happy that you enjoyed Just Maybe, it was the first long fic I wrote and I worked so hard on it! (and I promise that I'm still gonna write a continuation of it once my brain decides to want to write again!)

And of course I loved your piece about Kiri and jealousy (or rather the lack thereof). I know I didn't really add my thoughts to the reblog, but I think you wrote him so accurately, like mans doesn't have a jealous bone in his body, if anything he gets self-conscious and worried that he isn't enough. But I believe that gets less frequent as he grows and settles into himself. It was perfectly written, and I can't wait to see the next thing you write for him 💖
