ACE BOOGIE #A1918107 His story: I don’t know who is his rightful owner. But a few weekends ago a number of volunteers met Ace Boogie outside the shelter. He was off leash and running away from his supposed owner. She seemed to be high on something… and did not seem to treat the animal very kindly in front of witnesses. We asked an animal control officer for assistance, but legally there was nothing he could do. He however did inform us that the next time we saw the dog off leash that we should try to get the dog into the shelter and impound it quickly. Once the dog would be impounded the dog would have to be neutered. Scanned. And if stolen he’d go back to his rightful owner if microchipped. Every single volunteers’ heart sank when she dragged him away from us. It seemed obvious he wanted to stay. And not be with her. A few days later another woman and her husband brought THAT VERY SAME dog in. They had found the dog running down the highway. Just a hundred yards from the shelter. She felt guilty when she found out the dog was probably a homeless person’s. Now, understand there are some people without homes that treat their dogs amazingly well... HOWEVER I do not believe this was one of those people. When I told the Good Samaritan the story about the previous weekend and my interaction with the supposed owner, a smile grew across her face. I told her how happy she made me and how many volunteers would be relieved to have that dog with us. For he is one dog that I am pretty sure is better off with us than where he was. AND HOPEFULLY HIS NEXT HOME IS GOING TO BE AWESOME AND FILLED WITH LOVE!!! Notes 1/7 Kiesche: Easy leash. Pulled through kennels. Easy in yard. Did a couple laps on leash. Showed him to public. We dropped leash and he stuck around us. Took treats with soft mouth - sat for treats. Jumped up one or two times. Corrected with “no, down” - Got a few tail wags.
