mankai ice skating headcanons because I went skating last night hehe

chikage, who initially agreed to be itaru's support on ice, ditched him in the middle of the ice rink, so now itaru's cursing and swearing about his frozen butt as he crawls on all fours trying to get back to the stands

juza has never skated before so he's a bit wobbly on skates and falls quite a bit. and every time he fell on the ice, banri never failed to speed by and brake really hard right in front of juza to shave some ice in his face

but juza picked up the skill pretty fast and soon gave banri a run for his money by chasing him, and banri absolutely did not scream in surprise when juza caught up to him and shoved him hard from behind

it became a game of tag and it wasn't long before they got kicked out because their "utter disregard for the skate-only-in-one-direction rule", combined with speed that they were going at, was dangerous for the other skaters lol

azami, every time he passed by sakyo: you're so fucking slow old man

which resulted in chase #2, but with more respect for the rules

I'm not sure if this is universal, but you know those seal/ sled support things that kids can push around if they're learning how to skate? and someone can sit in the front while someone else is pushing u?

tenma wanted to adjust his skates so taichi asked him to sit on it so he can re-tie his skates. but once he sat down, taichi started pushing it and speeding around with tenma on it with his half-tied skates

tenma's screaming attracted the attention of misumi and kazu and it became a race with team taichi & tenma vs team misumi & kazu to see which team can complete more rounds around the rink (on equipment meant for kids)

fuyugumi were all holding hands and gliding across the ice gracefully like relationship goals :')

tasuku told tsumugi to "just stand and don't move your feet, we'll pull you along so don't fall ok" because they know how clumsy he is, so tsumugi got sandwiched between tasuku and guy as they pulled him along

citron knows how to skate, but doesn't know how to stop on them. he just goes until he falls on the ice, or crashes into the walls or.... people

alas, as romantic as it sounds, fuyugumi linking arms and skating in a row is a very big safety hazard for skaters like citron. so when citron yelled for guy to catch him because he can't stop, it resulted in a line of human dominos as all seven of them fall on the ice

once they got bored of skating around in circles, masumi, yuki and azami went off to the side, and started shaving ice with their skates so that they could make snowmen and snowballs to throw at the other guys

they passed one snowball to kumon so that he could pitch it, like a baseball, at banri who was still busy chasing juza around

they all yelled STRIKE!!! BATTER OUT!! and cheered when it hit him and he slipped on the ice

it's a win when they leave with less than half of the company getting banned from the rink and there are no broken bones

during the stranger, akigumi were worried about how they'd hide the lil cuts and bruises that taichi got on his legs from skateboarding, since taichi would be wearing shorts on stage as zero. but taichi refused the foundation from izumi, saying that those cuts and bruises would add to his character and that they would be like zero's battle scars

here's some online classes/ stay-home mankai headcanons I had in my drafts since early last year

juza doesn't like to wear headphones because he doesn't like how it squishes his ears, so he always has his lectures played outloud which annoys the shit out of banri, especially if it's an 8am class and banri's still in bed

they yell profanities at each other until the teacher has to remind juza that he's unmuted and that everyone in the call just heard every single word

idk how online classes for theatre majors work but sakuya likes to sit in during banri, juza and tenma's classes

he's such a regular there that once when sakuya was busy and couldn't join in, the teacher asked "hey where's your friend?"

masumi does his lectures in bed, rolled up like a burrito in his blanket with his laptop tilted on the side, and listening to music in the background

tsuzuru worries about his gpa and constantly nags at him, but 8am no-filter masumi once said something along the lines of "at least my gpa is higher than your bank account balance" and tsuzuru's never brought it up since

muku invites misumi to sit in during his math lessons because sometimes the teacher's cat will walk in front of the camera and crash the lesson

that's also when they found out that misumi is really good at trigonometry

tenma once walked into his room during yuki's lesson with the camera on, which caught tenma in the background and caused an uproar in yuki's class like holy shit you're roommates with sumeragi tenma!!!? and yuki's just rolls his eyes like oh right I forgot he's famous

taichi in his class' zoom chat: hi sorry sensei I can't turn on my mic, I'm getting yelled at by my dad (sakyo)

kumon's been going around to sit in during the college kids' lectures to get a sneak peek of the content they're learning because he's still undecided on his major

he still doesn't know what he really wants to study in college, but "tsuzuru-san why are all your lectures so boring"

omi is a literal angel and often brings cut fruit and snacks to the students who have back-to-back classes because he knows they don't have time to eat

yoga with the adults!! it initially started as a fuyugumi team bonding thing, but they invited misumi, izumi and sakyo to join them too

tasuku helped tsumugi to set up zoom on the company's spare laptop (since he doesn't own one) for his tutoring sessions.

tsumugi once accidentally turned himself into a potato using that filter and got so fascinated with the zoom filters that he showed up to the a3ders zoom meeting using the cat filter and banri fell off his chair laughing

the dorm originally had really shitty internet connection because it's so big and they didn't really invest in good routers (no budget). 

so there was once when the connection died during their classes and it was hilarious seeing several doors being swung open at once and students yelling DID THE WIFI DIE??? BRUH I WAS DOING A QUIZ

itaru has never been happier to be able to work from home because he can now grind his events without having to worry about his boss catching him on his phone

itaru also uses chikage's side of the room when he has meetings that require him to turn on his camera because he can't be bothered to clean his own area

hisoka's been losing out on sleep because the dorms are noisy 24/7 with the students around all the time. until azuma bought him a pair of sound-proof bluetooth headphones for him so he can listen to soft classical music while he naps

it was all well and good until chikage "hacked"/ switched the Bluetooth connection to play some heavy metal while hisoka was in the middle of a nap and woke him up

hisoka dumped a gallon of apple juice into chikage's underwear and socks drawer as payback

a3 hc that taichi doesn't like cherry tomatoes because the first time he tried them, banri convinced him that cherry tomatoes were just red grapes but sweeter, so he wasn't expecting the burst of sour tomato pulp after the first bite. now he hates them for life

some mankai holiday/ christmas headcanons

everyone has their own personalized christmas stocking hung in the corridor right outside their rooms

the personalized stockings were actually kazu's idea when they had their first christmas together as a company, and everyone got to decorate their own

putting up the tree and decorating is a calendar event at mankai. evening practice is cancelled that day and there's always some movie or cheesy christmas songs playing in the background as they decorate, and everyone chips in one way or the other

citron was in charge of putting up the letters to spell "here comes Santa" in the balcony but ended up mixing up the letters and spelling out "here comes Satan" instead

no one knows if he did it on purpose or not

banri and juza fought about who was taller so they could put the star on top of the tree, so now kamekichi is the one responsible for putting the star up there lol

itaru puts a few of his extra kniroun keychains on the tree because it's cute and it's great kniroun propaganda

misumi and kumon have their own little christmas tree from the dollar store in their room, but instead of a star on top they have Santa sankaku

in year 1, the kids managed to convince sakyo to buy a log cake as a celebration treat. but it's sakyo and "christmas log cakes are so expensive they're just cakes shaped like a log, why can't we just ask Fushimi to make one at home blah blah blah" so he only bought one (1) log cake for everyone (read: 26 people and bird) to share

omi got to practice his sashimi cutting skills that night trying to cut enough slices for everyone from that one singular log cake

"sakyo-nii the slice is so thin I can practically see through it ><" "stop being dramatic"

they have a tradition of staying up on the eve of christmas so they can open one gift when the clock strikes 12 midnight on christmas day

masumi was rather reluctant about that at first since he likes to go to bed early, until kazu pointed out that he could open izumi's gift for him the minute christmas started and now he's the most excited about this tradition

taichi and kumon are usually the ones most excited to open gifts on christmas day, and always wake everyone up a bit too early for their likings to gather for gift unwrapping because it's more fun when everyone's together!

but the adults sometimes go overboard with drinking the night before, so sightings of hungover adults lying on the couch or floor with their gifts piled up on top of them aren't very uncommon

they had to enforce a gift budget rule after homare tried to buy izumi a hot air balloon after one of their drinking sessions where izumi offhandedly mentioned that it would be nice to travel anywhere she wanted in one

inter-troupe snow ball fights are also a must for the holiday season. but they're now held at some random field far away from the dorms and not in the courtyard after one stray snowball broke a window

the troupes also have their own little traditions

harugumi usually have a short staycation sponsored by itaru and chikage. sakuya happened to mention that he's never been skiing before and suddenly they're on their way to a skiing resort for the weekend

they also lost itaru on the slope

itaru: HELP HOW DO I STOP tsuzuru: V shape itaru-san itaru: ITS NOT WORKINGGG citron: pizza shape itaruu! you love pizzas! itaru: HELP ME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA masumi: and he's gone

natsugumi have a secret midnight feast in one of their rooms (usually room 202) and kazu always blocks sakyo's instablam account from viewing his stories for that one day so they don't get scolded for eating in their rooms

akigumi usually volunteer together at a soup kitchen and then have a nice hotpot dinner back at the dorms in one of their rooms after

sometimes they go ice skating too but they usually end up playing a very intense game of tag on skates which kinda scares the other little kids there

once juza was gonna crash into a kid but he didn't know how to do a hockey stop on skates so he just picked the poor kid up and carried them until he braked completely before putting them down safely and then chasing after banri

they got kicked out and banned from that skating rink 5 minutes later

fuyugumi (attempt to) make gingerbread together and hisoka always sets aside a few for chikage, who complains about their sweetness but still eats them nonetheless

I think it's hilarious how if u walk down the streets of veludo way and past the mankai dorms, u can sometimes see some guys up on the roof either chilling/ talking or sleeping up there
