The European bee-eater is a migratory bird. In the fall, when its favorite prey (bee, wasp, hornet) are no longer available, it begins a long migration to West Africa or South Africa.
Bee-eaters are gregarious birds. They hunt in groups during the day and spend the night together in “dormitories”.
During the breeding season, the male performs courtship displays highlighting his colorful and variegated plumage in order to seduce the female.
