I think what really, simply, didn’t sit right with me about Apokolips War is that it’s not an Ending I was completely expecting &/or prepared for. (Spoilerish & very rambly under the cut. youve been warned.)
Because we’ve spent seven years now getting to know these characters and even watching some of them grow up. But even with the stories being arbitrarily connected sometimes... there’s such a severe disconnect and lack of development for so many of them that? Most of the deaths felt simply horrible to watch in the most abstract way? Moreso because of how violent they were?
And all to culminate in a moment of ‘that didn’t work. let’s clear the chessboard and restart the game’ which just?
Idk, some people might enjoy this style of storytelling or this kind of Meta behavior in their media. But it just left me feeling really hollow. That these characters we’ve been following for so long, who came into this universe because of Barry trying to Set Things Right, and still ended up in what essentially is a ‘Bad Timeline’?
You can’t give every character an arc when it comes to ensemble movies, and fans would be foolish to want such a thing anyways. Characters get lost in the shuffle and often we’re lucky to see cameos for some of them in the best case scenarios. For what it’s worth, the main story and beats felt pretty tight but... just downright bleak for so much of the film.
I mean god, if I could just compare it to my experience while watching Infinity War/Endgame, this one left me feeling so much worse for having watched it? At least Endgame left off with most of the Cast intact and clear-cut plans in motion for the continuation of the MCU.
But what Warner Bros Animation has in store? Has planned in the coming years? That ball is completely up in the air and it makes me so nervous for what could be coming.
It’d be interesting to see how they wipe the slate clean, if they do that at all. But At this point? I’m more hopeful that they move on to more stand-alone projects or long-running series.

do you mind me asking what base psd you use or what coloring you do? They all look so natural/ not too saturated and I have the hardest time coloring 😩
Hi anon I am so sorry this is late, I just got home >< but to answer your question I’m gonna add the whole explanation under the cut cause I suck at explaining. I hope you find the answer to your question somewhere in this
