oh my GOD i just realized that in nytw if its true, its seemingly implied that orpheus is aware of when he gets persephone on his side, but purposefully stays at the wall to be with the workers and rally them. (From Hermes’ mid-song narration: she went to go find that mighty king / you know, to see what she could do / and the boy, well the boy kept singing loud and clear / because everybody knows that the walls have ears) And that he basically stops singing explicitly about eurydice and starts singing about the ones who load the dice and deal the cards etc once persephone leaves to talk to hades, leaving the workers as his only audience.
