Tbh I celebrate both Juneteenth and the Fourth of July 🤷🏾‍♀️🇺🇸 I don’t see why not

I feel like a lot of African American’s reluctance to celebrate Juneteenth or any of our cultural holidays stems from a lack of knowledge of histories of the west, people always holding us and our cultural practices and icons to such high standards and making it seem as if they have to be 110% perfect, and most importantly a refusal to accept that AA culture is legitimate on its own and that we can have our own unique celebrations like other black people ( cuz I feel like it’s a lot of comparisons). The things I’ve seen on here and Instagram and Facebook are.....sad
