Can I say something so stupid but as someone who’s eyes and eyebrows are kinda lopsided I love that his Apollo Justice design has his face being kinda lopsided :) I know it’s to show the two sides of him but. I like it! He looks really human in a way I dig especially with how beautiful kazuya nuri’s designs for main characters typically are :)

Idk if I’ve ever said this out loud (ie: in a tumblr post) but my foundational stone of all of maya/Mia/pearls’ bullshit is that by the start of the trilogy maya and Mia aren’t necessarily estranged but I think they Were up until kinda recently and we’re seeing the first maybe year of repairing that bridge.

Basically misty leaving impacted maya very little (she was 2ish at the time) but impacted Mia a LOT (who was around 13) and because of the way we Know Morgan was I think Mia throughout her teens really adamantly protected maya from all the branch family/ main family conflict and tried to raise her herself (as much as a teenager can, with help from Morgan doing the actual adult things that were her legal responsibility).

That being said I think by the time that Mia is going away from school/ law school Maya sees it as her being abandoned with Morgan (who she doesn’t hate or probably even understand the politics of completely at this point) who has always been colder and harsher on her with training (I think a lot of Maya’s insecurity around channeling comes from Morgan belittling her all the time).

From Mia’s perspective she’s finally fighting the wrongs of DL-6 and her family/ mother’s reputation and selfishly she’s able to leave all of the Fey politics and be her own person who is solely responsible for herself. I think she meets Lana in college and finds a like-minded person who is also career driven and raising a younger sibling and slots very easily into life attached to them. Similarly we see her becoming close to both Grossberg and Diego and between all of her newfound connections in the city I don’t think she totally abandons Maya but she’s busy.

I think that Mia still makes an effort for Maya to come visit her in the city but I think that once she leaves the village she doesn’t ever physically go back. Maya is still focusing on her training and now that Mia’s gone it’s even more important that she stays in the village meaning that I think whilst she visits Mia, it’s not like they’re living together. I do think that Mia plans to get maya out somehow but I don’t think she’s thought any of it through in a practical sense. She’s focused on uncovering Redd White and clearing her mother’s name and then at some point down the line it’ll be safer and easier that Maya can get out…. and ultimately if Maya wants to become the next leader? That’s even better for Mia! I think there’s a part of her that selfishly feels like she deserves that much. She’s done her part (passing leadership to maya so that the two of them won’t be pitted against each other) and she’s raised her as best she could and now she gets to live a life for herself.

And she’s so close!! Just one more push and all of it will be okay… just put on a brave face for a few more weeks… and then well…
