Come Out AA Members! There is no Logical Reason to be Anonymous!
The reason for my awareness is because I am a travel agent working on a group cruise for people who don't drink. They are primarily members of an AA group. They are really hung up on "being anonymous", and I say “hung up” because I truly believe that now is the time for them to “come out”.
Their anonyminity is sabotaging their ability to connect with each other, and do what they truly desire, to cruise together. Every day I have calls from people who won't give their full name. So frustratingly I can't help them.
I get it.
It makes PERFECT sense for them to want to cruise together! Why would they want to cruise with a bunch of other lushes that are doing something they might desparately want to do, but can’t? It would be like going into a candy store just to look around and drool if you were a diabetic with a sweet tooth.
I believe Cruise Lines should have FULL SHIP NO ALCOHOL Cruises for non drinkers.
There should be a vacation option that caters specifically to you! Your money is just as green! But it can never happen until those who desire this band together as one. As long as the vast majority of non drinkers remain anonymous - they will remain in a state of disconnection with little or NO BUYING POWER within their cause.
If Alcoholics and other Non Drinkers had Buying Power they could tell the Cruise Line “Lock up the Liquor Cabinet” we’re coming next week! While you’re at it, get together the most beautiful virgin tropical libations you can find for us!
Why are alcoholics anonymous anyway? Because they are afraid of being judged by society for beloning to a support group that enables them to stay sober?
That makes NO sense!
It is comepletly honerable!
Who would judge an alcoholic for that?
If you come clean with who you are so that everyone knows, you will receive MORE support than ever before! We are all good people who don’t want to harm one another!
(If my dear friend had been an active AA Member - he might still be alive!)
Step 1 of AAs 12 Step Program states: We admitted we were powerless over alcohol–that our lives had become unmanageable.
