Sick and tired of fantasy racism.

Every single subplot in The Rings of Power has so far been “what if we accepted/worked/survived with another race”.

In the original Tolkien material, the races of Middle Earth had moved past this as a problem by the First Age. Because the story was about something more universal than race - perhaps hubris, or love, or loyalty, or a struggle of many small lights together against the dark.

The Rings of Power regresses all of that back to a plot that looks like a pastiche of white guilt. I do not need a storyline where one of the only people of colour has to convince his peers that’s it’s ok to have an interracial relationship, because guess what, that’s already my actual life. Im tired. I’m bored.

ehhhh... my head is all over the place with ideas. However... Jörg has not won at that second competition either. Now I have to find another way to publish. But we’ll see. Anyway. There is another competition for books for children from 2-5 years old in January and my best friend aka “manager” had another nice idea for a story about a child who finds an injured squirrel one day, then takes it to the vet where it gets healed and then years later he meets it again in the forest with offsprings of its own. Now that all nice and all but. There is still my seagull-mafia story There is still my idea for a child getting captured by pirates and arguing its way out so that it becomes captain And there’s the Pirate Queen story still! AND! AND QYRA!
