Integra-related meta feelings under the cut whoa
like of course in canon we don't see a lot of her inner life because we're very busy with Nazi vampires and all
but like..
she's a woman in Western white upper class society who was raised by men (and a monster posing as a man), to be the head of a powerful family with a male-dominated lineage, at the head of a male-dominated table o' dudes
and she's "Sir" Integra, not "Dame" Integra, probably based on tradition of the Knights more than her own insistence (it could be both though I suppose?)
and.. idk
I'm familiar with that feeling that you don't belong being referred to by feminine compliments or something because you don't fit traditional presentation of that idea
but Integra also seems to have her virginity, her particular (imo ace/demisexual) brand of femininity pretty clear in her head, for all she talks about it with pride
but it could also speak to a really twisted idea of the importance of purity, because she's been raised in an environment where it means your safety to a degree - it's the difference between being a slave and being immortal (I have 99 problems and all of them are with Hirano's vampire mythos) - and she's the first female leader of her line, and the only one to not have a child to continue that line
so.. yeah
hmmmmm
