iida comforting shouto isn’t just about him trying to relate bc he has an older brother and it’s not just to show the difference between the two of them but it’s to show how SHOUTO AND TOUYA COULD HAVE HAD TENYA AND TENSEI’S RELATIONSHIP. If none of the abuse happened and endeavor didn’t push his family to their breaking point, endeavor would’ve had two sons as heroes. Like the iida family, touya and shouto would’ve each contributed to their family legacy in their own right, inspiring one another and shouto learning from his big hero brother. Shouto and touya would have the bond that the iida brothers have. Instead, shouto barely knows his older brother and iida’s relationship represents that “what if”
