☯ Is there a muse you've always wanted to play?

See, my problem is, I’m always making characters based on a whim. I watch a TV show or even a damn music video and it inspires me or something and I make characters based on that so really, all the muses I’ve always wanted to play probably haven’t occurred to me yet. I’ve already made all the muses I want, I guess?

⚜ What is the best time to write for you? Why?

Any time I’m not busy or stressed -I get this strange itch to write sometimes and it’s pretty unpredictable.

☹ What's a character that you refuse to play with? Why?

I don’t refuse to play with characters but sometimes, if they’re weak or really lacking in self will or something, I just lose muse for my own really quickly. But I like to think I always give character’s a go.

April’s gleaming gaze volleyed between the tattered French cookbook in her hands and the nonchalant writer standing before her, a man who regarded the entire situation as if by pure incident. Hudson could put on a sly front all that he pleased, but April was capable of gazing beyond his cool façade – she had only mentioned that she enjoyed cooking once before, but Hudson had remembered. For some reason, he’d made enough note of it to pick up a stray gift just for her, and it visibly touched April. “You think about me,” she smirked, absently running her fingers over the book’s spine. It wasn’t a question, but a playful declaration – a realization, to be honest. Hudson’s mirrored grin, smug as it may have been, only emphasized her point. Before she could too wrapped up in the gift itself, more specifically analyzing what it could’ve meant, the petite artist inched herself upwards on the tips of her toes and pressed a delicate kiss on the scruffy apple of his cheek, allowing her fingertips to slowly curl around his bicep for the sake of balance… but also for her own indulgence. “This is actually very sweet of you, Hudson,” she murmured, allowing the magnetic forced that naturally existed between them to follow its intricate order and tug the artists together; within moments, they were only separated by mere centimeters. “I can’t exactly say that any of my attempts at these recipes will end up being very good, but I’ll be sure to invite you over for an honest analysis, Huddy boy… sorry, shit, Owen told me that you hate stupid nicknames.” A sincere innocence sparked in her eyes as they lifted towards him. “Do you mind if I calling you that?”

“One more chapter.”

“One more chapter,” April echoed in soft mumbles, dragging her small, exhausted frame towards the large loveseat that Hudson settled himself in while he wrote, those relentless fingertips slamming against keys and sputtering magic in every word. In more sensible hours, April would curl herself in a seat adjacent to him and sketch, admiring the details in his features as he wrote – knitted brows, pursed lips, and his hand dragging over his beard in deep thought. However, dawn filtered in through the windows, a morning sun signaling the promise of a new day… a futile gesture, as the artist had hit a creative streak of her own through the night, prying herself from the paint only moments before. Now, it was Hudson’s turn to allow his brilliance to shine, and with a squeaky yawn, April curled herself against him, resting her sleepy head against his lap. “Mm, I’ll just be right here, big lion,” she mumbled once more, words soft and scarcely audible, drenched in fatigued weariness as tiny hands absently trailed against his thigh. “I’m totally awake,” she fibbed through another yawn, the noises becoming smaller and smaller, tiny whimpers as she brushed her cheek against the fabric of his boxers – this was the sole place in the world that April felt entirely at home. “You just… keep writin’ your magic, Huddy love, and I’ll be right here… totally… awake.” As soon as Hudson’s fingertips brushed through April’s tousled brown, the tiny thing was fast asleep.

“I bought you a ticket.”

“You bought me a ticket? To go to London with you?” April’s lips parted dubiously, allowing the information to absorb before a bright grin quickly sprouted over her features, though it was quickly masked when she buried her face into the warmth of his neck and wrapped her flimsy arms around him. The knowledge that she wouldn’t have to go Hudson-less for three months swelled her heart to a maddening degree – frankly, three minutes without him felt hellish enough. “God, you cheeky brute, I really thought that you were gonna leave me alone while you went on your book tour!” Her limbs remained draped around his neck as she recoiled enough to catch the smirk on his lips, quickly fusing her own against them in giggling kiss. “I swear, I was going to go mad without you, I was telling Lillian to prepare my obituary because I didn’t think I’d last without you for longer than a day. Seriously, above all else, Huddy darling, you saved me a hell of a lot of money on vibrator batteries… or I was going to get carpal tunnel, definitely one of those.” A series of kisses were planted over every possible surface on his face before her nose quickly returned to brushing along his neck. “You silly boy, you do know that this means another trip for more lingerie, right? You’re going to be incredibly exhausted after all those signings, and I’ll need to give you an extra good reward.”

A wave of relief swept over Owen, easing the tension that plagued his shoulders – a phone call after midnight often came burdened with risky connotations, and while his feelings were blatant as ever, the echoes of her laughter was all that he craved. “Good,” he exhaled, though quickly backtracked to clarify, “I – I mean, it’s good to know that I hadn’t disturbed you or anything. Not that you weren’t getting your necessary sleep, because that, Miss Powell, is very important.” He was thankful that their communication for the time being required no facial contact, acutely aware of his own brewing blush. “It’s late, I’m being a fuckin’ idiot, I know. Really, it’s just nice to hear your voice, that’s all I was trying to say.” Comforting adjusting himself against the scarce pillows and sheets – living on your own required little bed maintenance – Owen couldn’t fight the lazy grin that plucked at the corners of his mouth, one of the many consequences that Lillian’s giggle inspired. “You know, I was teaching the kids about adjectives and such today,” he began, allowing his mind to conjure up numerous images of Lillian’s current state, a woman of consistent loveliness. “So I decided to use examples of flowers – and wouldn’t you know it, most of the words happened to describe you exactly. I suppose my theory that you’re actually a living rose isn’t too far off, is it?”

“Call me when you get home.”

“Will do,” Owen answered breezily, jubilant and cheeky as ever. While happiness was intrinsic to his easygoing nature, he hadn’t imagined that he could experience such fulfillment after a single date with Lillian. Well, perhaps date was a stretch, an insult to the phrase itself. No, admittedly, they hadn’t gone on a date, but they had shared a glorious evening together, which was more than enough for a man slowly realizing that being in love wasn’t impossible for him yet again. He’d fallen under the false notion that Vanessa had gauged him of such capabilities, but here he was, breathlessly smitten and fighting the embarrassing urge to break into song – he’d half-expected bluebirds to land jovially on his shoulders, eager woodland creatures approaching to share his joy. That was Lillian’s affect, a natural and delirious high of a maddening nature. Hardly even a quarter of the way to his desired destination, the teacher could barely contain himself as he procured his phone and quickly rang up the girl who had dominated his thoughts relentlessly and shamelessly. “Hey, I couldn’t quite make it home without wanting to talk to you again – how lame is that?”

“You can tell me anything.”

Owen was a man who could only keep secrets if under the impression that he didn’t have any – simply put, he didn’t know that he had something to hide until a series of analyzations had dragged him to the reality that his previous engagement had been more dangerous to his mental health that he’d fully realized. While he was with Vanessa, it was too enraptured to truly understand the toxicity – upon the demise of their relationship, the final hammer in the coffin, he slowly began to take note of the damage done. Lillian’s arrival had helped, of course, but there were lingering issues that only Owen could resolve… or, more realistically, would remain permanent scars as a perpetual reminder of how low he had fallen. “I know,” he murmured, dragging calloused hands over his face and sighing weakly. “It’s just difficult to find the words… it’s hard to admit things like this.” Nobody else would believe him, not really. Couldn’t you just leave? was the frequent inquiry typically delivered with pure condescension; it was enough to make him give up completely, at least until kind Lillian had noticed a change. She always noticed. “I suppose, uh, things with Vanessa--- it was a lot worse than I was willing to admit before…”

Isanna IS HURTFUL, TOO. They just moved in together. Like their own apartment, as they start senior year. THEY’RE GONNA GET MARRIED SOON. Well not soon. But SOON. LIKE AT 23 OR SOMETHING. I can’t remember. Leighann and I discuss it every time we talk and we can never remember. DOESN’T THAT STING?
