Jealousy
Fandom: Andy and the Band
Pairing: Blu/Mac
Based on prompt: “Why don’t you go marry them if you like them that much?” “…[Name], are you… Are you jealous?” “Am not.”
(Drabble undercut)
Mac had once again fallen for another Odd Sock customer. She wasn't chicken-obsessed this time, so it was better. But Blu didn't like it one bit. Blu was watching Mac showing her an invention of his that she was "interested in" and obviously was more interested in Mac. You could feel the fake interest leaking from her. Blu didn't find it right how she could ignore something so awesome that Mac had worked so hard on.
"Isn't she lovely?" Mac happily skipped through the rock n roller to put his invention away.
"Yeah."
"She's into science too! How cool is that?!"
"Are you sure she's actually into science?" Blu raised.
"Of course she is. She's admitted not as much as I am but that's to be expected of most people." Mac waved a hand dismissively at Blu's raised concern.
"True. What are you doing?" Blu tried to see what Mac was doing.
"She was wondering if it was possible to make a changing sound wind chime, and so me being one to not back out a challenge, I said we could try making it together." Mac walked around picking up bits and bobs for the invention.
...
"Is your friend alright?" She asked, nodding towards Blu, who didn't wear a smile squinting his eyes behind his sunglasses.
Mac looked up. "Ah, Blu? Yeah, he's fine he likes to act cool it's his thing, and he's very good at it, too." Mac looked back down at his invention.
...
"Haha! success! We did it." Mac rejoyced side-hugging her. "I would like you to keep it."
"Really?"
"Absolutely."
"Thanks, Mac." She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"No problem."
...
"She's truly a wonderful find."
"If you like her so much, why don't you go off and marry her." Blu swirled the tea around in the cup as he wore a stern expression.
"Marry her? No, I don't like her like that."
"You don't? I thought you did."
"No, but I can see where it could have gotten mixed up to look that way, and- Blu are you..." Mac gives Blu a look, seeking any confirmation on what he was guessing Blu was feeling. "Are you jealous?"
Blu looked away.
"Seriously, you're jealous?"
"So what it doesn't mean anything." Blu hid his face behind the tea cup he held.
Mac lifted the tea cup away from Blu's face and placed it on the table. "Oh, it does mean things, Blu."
Blu swallows hard. Mac was onto him.
"What does it mean then?" Blu cautiously asked.
"You thought she was replacing you, and that is not what was happening. You're my friend. I could never replace you it's not possible." Mac tapped Blu's nose.
Blu sighed, relieved Mac wasn't onto him, a little disappointment stirred in his heart, but he shoved that down. "I'm so glad. I didn't want to lose you." he smiled.
"Aww, Blu, never." Mac beamed back.
Blu always loved it when Mac smiled it was like a warm fireplace in the middle of a snowstorm enchanted his face.
And with that, Mac went back over to finish putting bits and bobs away that weren't used for the invention. Happily humming to himself.
"Mac, would you like some tea?" Blu asked, topping his cup up.
Mac silently celebrated before he turned around and looked over to Blu. "That sounds lovely."
"Great, I'll get you a cup, and you can join when you've finished." Blu gets up going over to the kitchen.
"Great, thank you, Blu." Mac's packing up pace quickened, and soon he was finished. He sat down at the table with Blu.
Mac and Blu shared a pot of tea together, chatting about a variety of topics ranging from the new inventions Mac was designing to "if you were an animal. Which one would you be?".
It was a pleasant afternoon.
