Asexual characters are important to me because they highlight that you can be an interesting person without your character revolving around sex. It shows me that what makes you amazing is your personality rather than your romantic and sexual relationships with others

Ravenclaw here! Ace characters are important to me because even though my parents are very LGBTQ+ accepting and understanding, I'm afraid to come out to them, because they don't know what asexuality is.
Yes, excellent point. Even with good sex ed, the media is where many of us learn about different lifestyles, orientations, genders, beliefs, etc.

Asexual characters are important to me because I get to see myself in others. I don't have to worry about being alone for the rest of my life if they can find relationships too... It makes me feel like I exist because I know that others do too.

Asexual characters are important because the term "asexual" is most commonly something people only hear in their science textbooks as a way of reproduction. I know my life would have been so much easier if I had figured out what asexuality was, and by putting them in books, movies, or television shows, it makes it that much easier for other people to discover something about themselves. I just don't want other people floundering about trying to figure out why they're so different from others.

Asexual characters are important because they could make the explanation of my orientation less tiresome when I come out to new people

Asexual characters are important to me because I don't know anyone in real life whose asexual, and it's frustrating to not be able to talk about it without questions. To see someone I connect with face the same thing makes me feel less alone.
