Borderlands 3
So I just beat Borderlands 3 and before I kept telling people that it's a perfect game but the story sucked. I still believe this after I've finished the game. I can explain why, such as the npc characters acting very brain dead and making some dumb decisions but I don't want to spoil it too much.
In short I just want to say the gameplay, visuals, how fun it is to be a character with multiple abilities is a bigger improvement from the last game, Borderlands 2, but at the same time it is not better than Borderlands 2. Story wise I atleast believe that it failed and it was just a mess rather than trying to focus on an actual problem. Handsome Jack was a great villain and he even had a past that we got to see who even had some cruel comedy to throw at us, basically it defined the game, meanwhile the twins it didn't really seem threatening and it was a bunch of information thrown into your face. You would think after the amount if time they put into the game they'd atleast give you time to learn about everything but nah.
SPOILERS HERE DONT SCROLL DOWN
Also a thing that pissed me off and was super pointless was the cause and how Maya died. She literally died because of an obnoxious kid who she brought on as an apprentice who ignored any warning that was given to her. Maya literally died so Ava could have a spotlight in Borderlands 3 when us as the audience literally just met her and most likely already have a bad taste from that. In my opinion it was really dumb and I didn't like how they went through with that. Just imagine killing a main character everyone has loved and played for a while just so a random npc can get attention. I brought up multiple ways Maya lives and all of them start with "if the kid wasn't there". I don't understand why anyone likes the kid or even defends her. At the end Lilith literally gave over the command of the Crimson Raiders to a kid instead of anyone else. It's a very annoying route.
Another thing to add, the last boss fight with Tyreen was so underwhelming and dumb. She's portrayed as this powerful siren who's then fused with a powerful vault monster who can supposedly destroy stars. The fight just consisted of hitting the back of her head where an eye is at to then crit her weak spot and take away a third of her health every 3 minutes. It was super easy and bland like the damn vault monster in Borderlands 2 was way bigger and way more difficult for gods sake lmao. I thought it'd be a big showdown considering it's the first time our vault hunters actually interact with her but no I underestimated how great it'd be.
