Tree of woe
Dogfight, Part 2
In the second half of this amazing Tag Team match from BG East, the Big Dogs turn their attention to Kieran Dunne -- specifically to his abdominal region. This is after they've finished dominating Kieran's partner, Mr. Joshua, as i blogged about last week.
They isolate the golden-clad cutie and work together to destroy his mid-section using their knees, elbows, shoulders, and boots to knock the wind out of him. If you think Josh's Face-in-Peril scene was epic, you should SEE what they do to wreck Kieran!! I originally posted still images of Kieran's Worst Day on my old website 20 years ago today.
This masterpiece of Tag Team ringwork is one of my all time favorite matches in BG East history. You can stream "Tag Team Torture 6" on their website.
One of the reasons I love this match is the contrast in the team vibes. The Big Dogs (in their ONLY appearance in gay wrestling) come off as working-class tough guys who built their powerful bodies by digging trenches or lifting heavy metal objects during Third Shift. They don't give a rat's ass if we think they're pretty and I respect that.
Kieran and Joshua on the other hand (even their names are precious!) got swole at the university fitness center, working out with Liam, Logan and their other Frat Bros. One wears red and one wears gold, in contrast to their black-clad bullies. They just REQUIRE this beating by some lads from the other side of the tracks.
Another reason I love this match is Joshua's on-going commentary to his helpless partner. "Awww, don't let 'em do that to yah, kid!" "Come on Kieran -- get up!" "Not another Body-Slam, fight back there, kid!"
Constantly berating Kieran in his loud South Bahston tone of voice, while not lifting a finger to help the kid. It ain't Kieran's fault that he's getting his ass kicked! (Kieran would later make his mouthy partner pay for this verbal barrage, but you can purchase the full video to see what I'm talking about.)
And there are many other reasons why I love this match: the gear, the bodies, the double-teaming, the ring psychology, the relentless punishment, the selling, the camera work, the Heels' focus on one body part. It takes like 57 things to make a Tag Team match work, and this match checks all the boxes for me.
Ab abuse
How bout some gut punching in the corner
Pounding the jobbers abs
Splashing the jobber then driving a knee into his abs
time for some ab abuse
