In the context of AB5to6

Puerto Rico is a project that wishes to explore aspects of the (self)exoticization of Greece through various representations of Greece as a quasi-Latin American country. The project will focus on cultural expressions of greek exceptionalism: stereotypical/ideological depictions of Greece as a “brotherless” and “warmhearted” nation amidst the structures of a “cold” western economic and political order.

The discourse about the exotification of Athens, has recently been very popular within the art world of Greece. But what is the signification of such a term? Through which processes does this exotification take place? What are the different aspects of this 'locus exoticus'? Where do we place ourselves within this new(?) geography and from which position do we criticise it?

Locus Exoticus Daysign Workshop is a two-day workshop that is part of the Daysing project, a project by Panos Sklavenitis that has been realised since 2012, and includes a series of workshops, performances and participatory actions.
