Θα μπορέσω άραγε ποτέ να ζήσω κι εγώ σαν ασκητής, ασκητεύοντας όμως μες στο κέντρο, ίσως και στην πλατεία της Ομονοίας; Όλα τα προσόντα γι' αυτό τα έχω· ακτημοσύνη, περιφρόνηση προς τα υλικά αγαθά, αμαρτωλό βίο και διάθεση, δίψα για ταπείνωση και εξευτελισμούς, αγάπη προς τους κατατρεγμένους, προς τους αλητόβιους, αγάπη προς τις αδελφές, αγάπη προς τα τεκνά, πόθο για το σκοτάδι μες τα διαθλασμένα φώτα, πόθο για το άβατο μες το βατό, πόθο για το άπειρο μες στο πεπερασμένο, πόθο για φόνο, πόθο για λαγνεία, πόθο για κλοπές και συντριβές, πόθο για απόλυτη συγκέντρωση μες στο κατάκλειστο, αναλλοίωτο από τις εποχές και τις ώρες της ημέρας, σπίτι. Πόθο βαθύ για γράψιμο μόνο για Σένα, για να τα δεις μόνο Εσύ, που τώρα παζαρεύεις την εγκατοίκησή Σου σε κορμιά και άλλων αμαρτωλών.

Praying Hands Mural - Pireaios Street, Omonoia, Athens (Greece).

Μanolis Anastasakos and Pavlos Tsakonas, along with students from the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASKT), are responsible for this provocative piece of monumental street art. Inspired by Albrecht Dürer’s Praying Hands, the image has been inverted so that it appears that it is the Lord praying for the people rather than the other way around.
