So what the heck, I'm thinking it's 2015. These books have been out for awhile and not that many stocks left. So starting now, you can get these books I made with some really talented people including adi-fitri for cheap. 2 books = RM15. These are award winning, San Diego Comic-Con 2012 exclusives peoples!
So this is my version of ABCDraw. Sean Gordon Murphy blew our minds away with his Wolverine ABCs so much that it got us to do this. It was intended to be a daily challenge between me and Adifitri in our own respective blogs. We both sadly failed miserably at the deadline.
We told ourselves to make sure each illustration meant a word starting with the alphabet and in its shape. But in some occasions I still veered off in the name of ‘fun’. Also, I pushed to cram as many things I can draw starting with the alphabet in each letter. When I got the chance be part of Mdec’s Malaysian Comics Booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2012, I decided to publish the series as a sketchbook called ABCDRAW - An illustrated guide to random Malay words. Now the English translation accompanied the illustrations to make more sense for non-Malaysian readers. Sir Ben Caldwell was kind enough to vogue it out with his copy of the book in the last photo here. :D
I did this series after having a chat with akazkucha. At the time we were looking at Sean Murphy's Wolverine Alphabets and thought we'd do our own as a fun exercise. The idea was to pick a word beginning with each letter of the alphabet, then illustrating that word in the shape of the letter. I then proposed doing it as a daily challenge... at which I failed. I got stuck at 'S' and the rest of the series didn't get done till 2012. (Yeah, towards the end I sort of goof off - "X de" for 'X' was not proper and was done for laughs!)
