Mogaje Guihu (Abel Rodríguez), a nonuya artist from the Cahuinari. The upper right corner reads: ‘Corte el terreno que nunca se inunda 12/07/2022’. Cut the land that never floods.
The nonuya were enslaved and almost driven to extinction by the rubber barons. Mogaje was raised since childhood to be a ‘namer of the plants’. He died this year.
