For the sake of my own organization, the current Abelson-verse characters, sorted by type!
Main Characters, Hero Support:
—Toni, medical professional and all around good friend to the hero community, she publishes books on healthcare for people with superpowers and serves as both a medic and a regular doctor for the local heroes. No powers.
—Edgar, emergency responder, trained nurse, and field medic, he’s grumpy but entirely confidential and would rather die than reveal a secret identity. Married to a superhero and loves her dearly. No powers.
—Leviathan aka Levi, talented prosecutor who takes on high risk supervillain cases, including a lot of the friends of his own supervillain father. Cocky and obnoxious, you either want to punch him or kiss him. Has shark teeth as a superpower trace.
—Jawbreaker, retired superhero who was maimed in a fight and now works in hero costuming to keep similar accidents from happening. He used to have bird wings.
—Candy, a young woman who develops costumes with Jawbreaker. She’s the brains of the operation but lacks experience, connections, and funds, so their partnership is mutually beneficial even disregarding their friendship. No powers.
—Queen of the Tower aka Queenie, an ex-sidekick and ex-villain who spent a few years in jail and is definitely violating a lot of parole terms. She’s an informant for the local heroes, with powers that let her ‘talk’ to anything that moves, from animals to machines.
—Laura Lucas, hotshot crime reporter and martial artist, often teams up with heroes for villains that need more than combat to defeat but also serves as an informant. Dating a superhero and a supermodel, it’s a poly thing. No powers.
Main Characters, Superheroes:
—Dovetail, team leader and media head, he’s a levelheaded and friendly guy who is generally well-liked, although he gets some bad press because he’s poly and not everyone gets the “I have 4 girlfriends” thing. Best friends with Toni, dating Laura, Ariana, Rosalind, and sometimes Argos. Has bird wings and minor reality warping powers.
—Pandora, team mom and bruiser, a gentle giant who becomes a monster at night. She’s Edgar’s wife and often serves as a second set of hands in the clinic during the day. Monster shapeshifter.
—Supernova, lab-grown, off-brand Superman who never shuts up. He isn’t old enough to drink and is just all around a puppy of a dude. Dating the other rookie, Undertow. Flight, heat visions, superstrength, invulnerability.
—Undertow, also known as teenaged anxiety Batman. EXTREMELY shy and comes off as brooding because of it. Supernova is his emotional support boyfriend and Dovetail is his emotional support father figure. Can shift into another plane of existence but mostly fights hand-to-hand.
Secondary Characters, Hero Support:
—Julian, strategist and logistics expert, who regularly consults on all kinds of issues both combat and behind the scenes. Often mistaken for precognitive, he actually only has a healing factor so strong he doesn’t sleep and just researches a lot.
—Ariana, model and activist, she has a very loose distinction between hero and villain because she was dating Queenie during her sidekick days and saw some shit. She and Queenie are still close, but these days she’s living with her girlfriend Laura and her boyfriend Dovetail. No powers.
—Rosalind, superpower geneticist and famed defuser of power-altering bio-weapons, she is also dating Dovetail and good friends with Laura and Ariana. No powers.
—Libelle, a not-quite-support, not-quite-hero, she’s protected by her extradimensional stepmom who makes it so anyone who knows a secret of hers is immune to mind control, which is hugely valuable. No powers of her own.
Secondary Characters, Superheroes:
—Cygnet, an ex-rookie on Dovetail’s team who struggles with finding an identity for herself. Very snarky. Has bird wings.
—Argos, resident telepath and Libelle’s biggest detractor, although the no mind reading doesn’t block out voluntary telepathic thought sharing. Sometimes sleeps with Dovetail but it’s nothing as stable as a proper relationship. Mind reading, telepathy, power borrowing.
