regardless of any personal feelings I have have about the cast (I think getting too invested in the actors is cursed but Idk), what sucks is I feel like sm Melissa/W*rk W*ves stans don’t give a fuck about Barbara outside of the ship. on the other hand, Barbara is so nuanced but WW has totally overshadowed her individual character and Barbara is objectively much more multifaceted. and don’t get me started on how ao3 is flooded with inaccurate tags…getting excited seeing new Janine content or something but it’s a WW or Melissa/OC one-shot that she’s not even in :/ because why is Melissa/OC and Melissa/any other female more popular than Ava/Janine? I don’t want to sound like a bitter shipper but it makes no sense to me at all, they’re grasping at straws
it makes no sense!! theyre soooo obsessed with some sort of version of barbara that doesnt love gerald when we see and hear how fondly and sweetly barbara talks about gerald and how much she loves him.... like yeah just toss away her entire canonical characterization and flatten her down so that she can be obsessed with a white woman. and i used to like workwives i really did! ive written fic and drawn art of them and included them in my avanine fic but i literally have soured to the ship because of the obsession with melissa. one would think melissa was the main character of abbott elementary by looking at the tags
no bc WHY is she more popular than ava/janine when there is so much more evidence going for them???? their chemistry is off the charts!!!
