Dr. Balamuralikrishna sings a dwirAga pallavi in Abhogi and Valaji - masterfully done!
Wonderful Abhogi.
.Rudresh Mahanthappa - Abhogi
Continuing on the jazz tip....
Guess Blog by Ranbir Singh. Thanks Ranbir!
Desi fundamentals and Jazz fundamentals all fused together sound AMAZING! Well-- that’s exactly the mixing what Rudresh Mahanthappa has done and it sounds awesome. Mahanthappa is an Alto Saxophonist and composer. When you listen to his music you can hear some elements of classical Indian music mixed in with Jazz. Here is a link to a song titled Abhogi from his most recent album Gamak (2013). NPR interviewed Mahanthappa recently in this article.
