CLARITY IN CHAOS 💁🏽 Apostle Peter in his first letter to the scattered Jews in exile wrote this in 1 Peter chapter 4. 📖 1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you. But insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that when His glory [filled with His radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may rejoice with great joy. 🤔 When chaos enters our lives which is unavoidable how do you respond? 🤔 What kind of clarity in your chaos do these verses give you? 💁🏽‍♀️ Chaos isn't something that we welcome into our lives, but being able to see through it, to see Jesus knowing that He is right there with us does bring great clarity. 🤔 Where are you experiencing chaos in which you need clarity? 🙏🏾 Ask God for His perspective and expect to hear from Him. STABILITY IN AN UNSTABLE WORLD 📖 Hebrews 3:7–14 uses the example of Israel's forty years in the wilderness (📖 Numbers 13—14) as a warning. This is directed at Christians who fail to ''hold fast'' their faith in God during persecution. Israel was saved from Egypt, as believers are saved from eternal death through salvation. Israel was offered the Promised Land, as believers are promised victory through our spiritual inheritance. Israel lost faith and didn't trust God against the ''giants'' of Canaan, as believers can be tempted to lose faith in the face of persecution. The ancient Israelites were not sent back to Egypt, just as God does not revoke the salvation of Christian believers. However, both can expect hardship and a loss of fellowship if they fail to trust in God. YOUR REAL LIFE IS IN HEAVEN WITH GOD AND THAT REALITY DOES CHANGE EVERYTHING 🥳🥳🥳 Repeating the theme of verse 1, Paul reminds the believers at Colossae to keep their minds on godly, spiritual things. This is meant for those who have accepted Christ and received Him as their Savior. Rather than looking to the earth around them, the minds of Christians should be focused "above." The things "above" are the things of God. God is often noted as being "above" in the New Testament (📖 John 3:31; 8:23; 📖 Ephesians 4:10) and heaven is described as "above" (📖 James 1:17). In this context, the "things of the earth" are associated with ungodly activities. For example, 📖 James 3:15 notes a false approach which "is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic." In contrast, the "wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere" (📖 James 3:17). This does not mean that believers should ignore all earthly concerns. It does, however, mean that believers ought to give their time and attention to things pleasing to God, rather than things pleasing to men.
