āWithout Me you can do nothing.ā John 15:5 NKJV
You can be filled with the Spirit and still be running on empty, because having the Spirit within doesnāt automatically mean His power is working through you. The power is available, but it must be accessed; it must be activated, you have to plug in. Jesus gave us the blueprint. He said, āI am the vine, you are the branches.ā That means the fruit isnāt a result of our hustle. Itās not a product of self-will, spiritual ambition, or religious performance. The branch doesnāt try to bear fruit, it simply abides in the vine and the fruit comes as a result of connection.
So many believers walk around looking like fruit trees on life support. We tie on patience like ornaments. We tape on kindness like it belongs to us. We try to manufacture love, self-control, and joy like they are products of our personality. But Jesus said, āWithout Me you can do nothing.ā Not less, not a little, nothing! Real fruit isnāt stapled to your branches, it flows from the inner life of the vine and it grows from the Spirit of God moving freely through every area of your life.
The evidence of your connection isnāt just in your behavior, itās in your dependence. And that dependence is most clearly seen in your prayer life. What do you pray about? Thatās what youāre trusting God to handle. What you donāt pray about? Thatās what youāre trying to handle on your own. The apostle Paul said it plainly: āNever stop prayingā (1 Thessalonians 5v17 NLT). Talk to God about everything. Your struggles, your needs, your dreams, your bills, your battles, your schedule, your temptations, your relationships, your plans. Everything.
Abiding isnāt a one time act, itās a posture of the soul. Itās practicing the presence of God all day long, living aware that He is near, with you, and He wants to move through you. If you are tired of striving and ready for supernatural fruit to grow in your life, there is one thing to do⦠Stay connected, stay dependent, stay plugged in. Abide! Because apart from Him, you can do nothing. But with Him, you will bear much fruit.
