Prayer for October 1st
Heavenly Father, please protect our children from harm. There are evil people intent on taking away their innocence and causing them damage. Protect them from this danger and give people the courage and strength needed to keep them safe. Lord, we pray that a revival would occur in our children and that they would be a growing testimony to the goodness of Jesus Christ. Itâs in his mighty name we pray. Amen.

Daily Devotional
In the midst of life's trials and tribulations, we often seek solace and strength. Isaiah reminds us that our peace comes from God. This verse speaks of the gifts God provide us, particularly peace and security. It emphasizes that true inner peace is not found in our circumstances but rather in the acknowledgment of God's sovereignty.
When we meditate on God's goodness and faithfulness, we create a space for His peace to dwell in our hearts. This peace surpasses all understanding and guards our hearts and minds, even when the world around us is chaotic. As believers, we are called to cultivate a grateful heart, recognizing the daily blessings that flow from our Creator. Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to what we have, allowing us to experience deeper joy and contentment.
In practicing meditation on God's Word, we not only find inner peace but also build a resilient spirit that can withstand life's storms. We can reflect on God's past provisions, reminding ourselves of His faithfulness, which fuels our trust in Him for the future.
As you consider these truths, take a moment to reflect on your own life. Are there areas where you struggle to experience God's peace? What can you do to cultivate a more grateful heart? What can you do to cultivate a more grateful heart? Perhaps setting aside time each day to meditate on scripture or writing a gratitude journal could help you focus on God's blessings.
Let today be a day of intentional peace and gratitude, allowing God's gifts to fill your life with joy and strength. How will you invite God's peace into your daily routine this week?
ISAIAH 26:12 "LORD, You will establish peace for us, for You have also done all our works in us."

Shine Brighter
From time to time, I encounter people who identify as Christian, and as soon as they know what I do for a living, they will share in a conspiratorial way something like this:Â
"Don't you think that the world has just gone to hell in a handbasket? It feels like the end times. I just can't wait for Jesus to come back and take care of this sinful, old world once and for all."Â
For the sake of brevity, I condensed the information those people will share into a couple of sentences, but you get the idea. They've been taught that the world is a bad place, and full of darkness, and the best they can hope for is that at some point all of the "unrepentant sinners" will get their comeuppance. Â
Honestly, I understand this. At one point in my life, I bought into that way of thinking. But I've learned since then that system of belief isn't constructive, and not at all what Jesus intended for his followers. Â
Some years ago, I read an amazing quote from author Rob Bell that has been in my thoughts lately. Â
âWhy blame the dark for being dark? It is far more helpful to ask why the light isnât as bright as it could be.âÂ
There is an old adage that says, âIt is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.â Rob Bellâs quote is a powerful reimagining of that truth. We often find ourselves pointing fingers at the brokenness of the worldâthe sin, the corruption, the pain, the confusion.Â
Itâs easy to grow weary and cynical, to grumble about the state of things and lament the perceived decline of morals and faith in the culture we inhabit. But darkness is doing what darkness does--creating shadow, bringing fear, producing anxiety. Â
The better question is: Are we doing what light is meant to do?
Jesus told His followers, âYou are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hiddenâ (Matthew 5:14). He never called us to be the gatekeepers of whoâs in or out, whoâs worthy or unworthy. He called us to shineâto be a community so full of love, grace, and truth that others canât help but be drawn toward it.
Far too often, Christians become obsessed with defining boundaries. We argue over doctrine, practice, and tradition, forgetting that the world isnât transformed by arguments, but by love. While we debate whoâs right, the world grows colder and dimmer, longing for warmth and light.
Godâs creationâincluding the people around usâis still beautiful, still sacred, still pulsing with divine potential. When we only see the flaws, we miss the fingerprints of God in the faces of our neighbors, coworkers, and even our critics. What would it look like if, instead of lamenting the worldâs darkness, we asked, âHow can I shine more brightly today?â
Maybe itâs showing kindness to someone who feels invisible. Maybe itâs choosing forgiveness instead of resentment. Maybe itâs speaking up with truth and love when it would be easier to stay silent. Maybe itâs simply showing up in someoneâs life with compassion and a listening ear.
Light doesnât need to be loud. It just needs to be present.
So let us be the people who light candlesâwho carry the light of Christ into every space we inhabit. Letâs be known not for who we exclude, but for how well we love. Because when the light shines brighter, the darkness has no choice but to recede.
Prayer:Â
God of light, help us shine with Your love in a world that needs hope. Forgive us when we focus on judgment instead of grace. Teach us to see beauty where others see darkness, and to be candles that push back the night. Let our lives reflect Your light. Amen.
You are never alone đ
