Birdies
PATTERN BANK have used a floral water colour of mine, top left, (which funnily enough I spoke about in a previous post) for their A/W 2014 Trend report. This trend report was actually published in May, but I have just randomly stumbled upon it today on Pinterest, so thought I'd share! www.patternbank.com
@Pinterest Please help to credit this design
Back in my 2nd year of university, I became obsessed with Pinterest. I designed this lovely watercolour and popped it onto my pinterest page (http://pinterest.com/abigailhutton), and over the last year it has become my most repinned picture (of my own). Naively, and at the time uneducated of Copyright, I did not watermark the design. It has since been repinned by hundreds, and often my name has been lost. As you can see, I have now watermarked it, but the original, without a watermark, is still being repinned multiple times a day with no mention of my name. It worries me as any company could just reproduce it under their name. If you see this design without the watermark on pinterest, please please please comment on it and credit me :) Thanks!!
A couple of months ago my friend Rosie asked me to do her a favour.. In the past this has consisted of posing in her flat for a boudoir shoot.. This time however, I was to represent Joy for a Xerox campaign which is sponsoring the Rochester Jazz Festival in New York! To see the other campaign shots, which represent everything else from Hope to Wonder, visit http://www.xerox.com/about-xerox/sponsorship/rochester-jazz-festival/enus.html6
MANCHESTER SCHOOL OF ART DEGREE SHOW 2013
The private view is ALMOST here!!!! The show will be open to the entire public from Saturday 14th June until 6pm 19th June. Be there or be square! ;)
Exciting news!
I have more exciting news to share with you!
The entrance to the new Art School & the gallery space The new building for the Manchester School of Art is spectacular. We moved in in January and last week we finally got to see the huge gallery space finished. With this has come the opportunity for third year students to pitch ideas for how they would like to make use of specific large spaces within the gallery for the 2013 degree show (as well as the allocated spaces provided per student).
Three projection doors which are normally kept closed, dividing the gallery and studio.
There are three HUGE walls in the gallery which divide the gallery and the ground floor studio which can open and become walls for projecting images onto. I proposed an idea for an animated floral design which will move like a breeze is hitting it, and on Thursday I found out that my pitch was chosen for one of the three walls! It is such an exciting opportunity and I can't wait to get started on the design for it. It's going to be a big challenge but I know I can pull it off.
Another Textile designer off the same course as myself whose pitch was chosen, is Melissa Baggaley (www.melissabaggaley.tumblr.com). Melissa's work combines weave with foiling, I won't given too much away here, so you must come and check both of our big pieces out!
