Reality is defined as the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them. It is also defined as a thing that exists in fact, having previously only existed in one's mind.
Mentifery is defined as the power to turn one's thoughts and imagination into reality.
Though they need to know where they want to teleport to in order for it to work, the power doesn’t always get it right. Even if Luke is certain, they can sometimes end up in the wrong area, or just in the room next to where they want to be.
Luke has to have an exact knowledge of the area that they’re teleporting to in order to go there. If they tried to get to somewhere they don’t know very well, it just wouldn’t work. In theory, they could teleport to somewhere they’ve just seen a picture of, but there’s no guarantee they would end up exactly where they wanted to go.
Back then, the spells and enchantments were used against him to suppress his youki to dangerously low levels to prevent him from fighting back or struggling 'more than he should' whenever the torture sessions took place. The enchantments, on the other hand, were used on the locks of the dungeon he was kept in and on the locks of nearly any other doors around him. His captors were fully aware of what he was capable to do to nearly any lock and wouldn't want to run any risks. They knew how dangerous thieves like Kurama and Kuronue were, reason why they never tried to use Kuronue as a bait to lure Kurama out. The plan the captors had in mind was simple: Keep Kuronue as weak as they could, torture him and get as much information about Kurama and Kuronue, so they could catch Kurama off guard and avoid any potential dangers while doing so. They promised Kuronue to give him his freedom back if he cooperated and they managed to catch Kurama, which was, of course, a lie, as their real plans were to keep them both prisoners for a while, make them pay for stealing from Endo (the landlord of the fortress they raided -same fortress we see during the flashbacks in the second movie-) before slaying them and cashing in the rewards offered for both of them, dead or alive. Kuronue, being the loyal youkai he's always been towards someone important to him, never agreed and always refused to cooperate, something that never failed to infuriate his captor and more than often caused him to go through a new ordeal of pain and suffering. Since Kuronue couldn't break free the "traditional way", by picking locks and making his way out stealthily without waiting another single second there and making use of his natural abilities, he had to wait for the right time to make his move, which translates to suffering all kinds of tortures and both, physical and mental pain while being under spells that pretty much turned him into a useless demon (weak and powerless, unable to even summon his kusarigama or create a thin fog curtain) meanwhile. His muscles, as expected, suffered the consequences but not as drastically as one would've thought they would.
With his body in a deplorable state and his youki still suppressed to the minimum possible, he managed to escape after some events that took place at one point (I'm going to deepen on this later. I swear I'll do it this time! ;;;; ) and kill Endo, the man behind all of this. Some of Endo's subordinates survived, however, anyone of them managed to stop Kuronue once they realized what was going on there that day he escaped. On his current state back then and completely unable to even try to use his wings (they were weak after years of almost complete inactivity), Kuronue barely made it alive to a safe place deep in the woods once he had killed Endo and escaped his men. He snatched a couple artifacts and books about magic and spells on his way out of the fortress, fully aware that killing the man wouldn't put an automatic end to the spells he was under. Ever since, he's been dealing with different issues. While he could regain his physical strength over time and after a lot of training, he hasn't been able to regain all of his lost youki as part of it is still being suppressed by a spell (probably two or three, it's uncleat right now) that he hasn't been able to break yet. It is possible that the solution to this remains somewhere deep in the fortress that he was kept in for years, Endo's fortress, but it's not something he's completely certain of, reason why he's hesitant to go back and, instead, is looking for answers outside or for someone who can help him with this, which is not an easy task to perform since most of those who know how to use spells to suppress youki will use their ability against other youkai, let alone, against someone who already has a spell of the kind on him -making him more vulnerable to them- and who, also, has many enemies and a price on his head.
He does enjoy fighting, however, during his heists, he tries to avoid fighting as much as possible. Fighting might only lead to terrible results.
That said, he usually gets into "little" brawls sometimes just for the fun of it, though, most of times, it happens when he's a tad drunk
He's skilled at hand-to-hand combat. However, he often comes out of a fight with some bruises and cuts, mostly, because of his reckless nature.
His weapon of choice, as you know, are scythes (or kusarigama, since they're attached to a chain).
He has the ability to create/summon fog. This was deduced from what was shown in the movie. It was something the impostor did and Kurama didn't seem to find it weird. Many people consider the real one might not have said ability, along with the scythes thing (since Kaiki was manipulating Kurama's memories and there're chances those were exclusive of the fake Kuro), however, I think it makes sense if we also consider the following point.
Like any other bat or bat demon, his hearing sense is outstanding. It's pretty useful while making use of his fog/smoke as it makes his oponent's sight useless for the most part while Kuro can make use of his hearing sense to catch his prey (echo-location).
He can emit sounds that only few other demons (with equally acute hearing) can hear. These are used for the whole echo-location thing.
He can use hypnosis with the help of his trademark pendant. It usually takes a little while to perform so he doesn't make use of it often.
He's not an innate magical demon, however, he can unlock magic sealed locks as long as the magic sealing them is not highly powerful. He's trying to learn how to use some more, though, for the sake of some of his jobs.
It's been a while since the last time I posted HC related so, I'll just throw here some general things I've had in mind for the past 4-5 days.
These 2 points are more like "The things I deduced a while ago and just thought about posting them now" type of thing:
・In the movie, Kuronue's imposter makes use of smoke/fog during his fight against Kurama. Kurama doesn't seem to find this awkward which only leads me to think that Kuronue, the real one, actually had the ability to create/manipulate smoke.
・As a bat demon, I'm sure he has a great hearing sense, which can be useful while using any technique related with the ability explained above since sight is useless in such conditions, making things easier for him to "find his prey".
Now, let's go with a few random Headcanons:
・ He's not that much of kids guy in general, however, it's easy for him to get along with them because of his playful and easy-going nature. This doesn't apply to annoying/loud kids since he can't stand annoying people in general. He won't harm them even if they get on his nerves. He was an "abandoned" child in Makai, often harmed by bigger and stronger demons, so you won't see him doing any harm to any weaker creature like a child. (One of the threads with Kara reminded me of this one and I just had to put it here).
・Like I mentioned on the first part, I assume Kuronue has a great hearing sense. I came up with the idea of him being fond of music long time ago because there're certain types of music and songs that are literally music for your ears. This Kuronue is pretty easy going and I can easily see him enjoying some good music of any kind (Makai's and even Ningenkai's), which is something he himself has made it clear to me throughout the time I’ve had this muse.
・For some reason, I think of him as someone who likes to sing. It probably has something to do with bats emitting sounds. I just can't explain this point as deep as I'd like to, but that's how I think of him about this, lol.
・He can be something like "the protective big brother" to any of his close ones, specially those who he is aware are weaker than him or women (in a sort of gentleman-ish way...).
・He likes to take naps randomly. He can sleep pretty much anywhere and everywhere at any hour. The lifestyle of a thief has wrecked his sleeping schedule for it constantly varies.
・I think I never stated this (even if I often mention it in my rps) but, since there seems to be no-canon-eye-color for Kuronue because there isn't many canon pictures and in the movie, the colors during the fight between Kurama and the Fake Kuronue seem affected by the lights and fog around them, so there're (to me) 2 possibilities: Violet and Blue, being the latter the one used for him in one of the Movie Cards. That said, I stick to blue for my muse for different reasons.
・When it comes to partners/mates, he can be such a romantic fool if he wants to. Not that he’s going to smother his significant other with all kinds of affection and corny stuff, but more like he’d do things that he knows please them.
