It was a very special night with amazing people and discussions! ————————————— And here’s the man himself, dapper as ever, who made this event reality and brought creative disabled talent to the forefront: Sulaiman Khan, our Founder and Chief Purpose Officer. ————————————— He aims to build on the success of the first Ability Assembles and ignite our team push ThisAbility positively further to right the ratio for greater inclusivity of creative disabled talent in the creative industries. ————————————— From here, he will lead to build on our partnerships, increase the connections, build our network and work on the next steps to push ThisAbility forward in a focused way with tangible actions rather than words. After over three weeks of being extremely unwell — and despite not at 💯% yet, still on my second course of antibiotics and struggling to get rid of this horrid cough + congestion (#MuscularDysrophy can be a right wanker sometimes!) — I had a fantastic meeting with the Anomaly team and I felt so much better being upright and out of the house. We had an excellent, productive meeting about the next ThisAbility meetup (#AbilityAssembles) on 4th October that Anomaly are kindly hosting. ————————————— As ThisAbility's first official partner, Anomaly have been incredibly supportive in setting up the event and in believing in me to push ThisAbility forward. They're just awesome! It's been difficult and I'm still not confident in myself or my own abilities yet, as what is tough for me to accept is that my brain is still dancing but my muscles in my entire body are deteriorating faster than I'd like. Frankly, my body is dying and my mind stills wants to ignite hearts (and the world) creatively. However, as I always have done I will continuously push myself out of my comfort zone and keep speeding forward with positivity, energy, sass, determination, humour and of course style. I say this because ThisAbility is bigger than me and ThisAbility will be my legacy to the world. Wish me luck! I feel a change of better times ahead. And with Anomaly by my side (and by building our partnerships), we can make the creative industries (if not the world) a more healthier, #inclusive place.
