Lando and Quill would get each other in the most awful situations at first. Lando’s got a wiser head on his shoulders, but Quill reminds him of himself when he was very young and just taking his first steps off Socorro, so it’s easy to just tag along with him on adventures without realizing that an incredibly stupid idea they’re getting into.

Both of them are the schmoozing, womanizing type-- and while they both enjoy that lifestyle, they also know that there’s an emptiness to it. that hopping from bed to bed can keep you satisfied for the time being, but when things get quiet and you’re all alone, you just feel empty

and I feel like, for that reason, they’d gravitate towards each other. slowly, at first. lando’s the one dropping hints, and quill is picking up on them, but it takes him a little while to take the bait.
