At my new job we have the fm radio playing all the time and: I am going to start a one-wolf war on fm radio ads.

First. Yesterday I heard an autism speaks ad five times. Literal hell.

Second. I keep hearing an ad for a product called Nugenix. I for one would not have named my product something that sounds so similar to eugenics but maybe that’s just me. But also the ads are promoting it as a weight loss product. I do think anyone for almost any reason should have access to gender affirming care, including cis men who have testosterone issues. But when the entire ad campaign that plays on the radio is “you need to lose weight, and we’re gonna say it’s because you’re deficient as a man” that’s heinous. For a couple reasons. I do not know how nugenix works (the commercial doesn’t say. It just says “you have low testosterone and that’s why you’re fat now! Change that with nugenix!”) but I don’t trust it and I don’t trust the fatphobia they’re using in their commercials

And I also heard a commercial that said men under 35 should not drive drunk. I’m guessing it was written based on statistics of people pulled over or arrested for duis, or based on drunk driver accident stats. But the way it was worded was like only men under 35 should be careful about this lol

y’know, sometimes I think about how Mo Xuanyu in fanfic where he’s happier is usually conveniently not mentally ill, or if he is it’s depression/anxiety/something both tractable and palatable

and I think, where are the stories where he actually does have delusions, actually shows psychotic symptoms, actually has schizophrenia, and people love and care for him anyway

and then I remember the incidence rate of “psychotic” used to mean “evil” versus used to mean actually experiencing psychotic symptoms, and I decide I don’t trust any of us that much

ohhhhh my god OHHHHH MY GOD OH MY GOD i cant believe i just fucking realize why i feel Bad

cuz the other day i was talking to mom and i casually said “i have bpd” and she was like “well u Say that, but youve never been diagnosed and [insert anti-self-dx boring argument here]” and i was like *says yeah and uh-huh cuz i honestly dont care enough to have this conversation* and she was like “so what makes you think you have it??” and so i gave an example of one symptom and went into a lil detail on what that symptom’s like n stuff and she was like “hmm well i dunno i just-- i just dont see it u kno i mean i think most ppl struggle with that, u kno? and like, i just never would think of that, i wouldnt ever put you in that category” and i was like ok i’ll bite, why wouldn’t you? and so she said(and this part is a quote!) “well, you’re not manipulative” and so i just said “you don’t have to be manipulative to be borderline” and the silence afterwords was so fucking Painful
