I have Ablutophobia in the Way that i do not dare to bath in my bathtub anymore due to my size. I do not dare to sit Down and be covered in Water and soap in case i cannot get up again. So now i have to stand in my bathtub turn on the hand shower and use that to get myself clean.
Did anyone else who grew up with ablutophobia experience feelings of shame related to it?
My Experience with Ablutophobia
Link to an image trying to show how soaps feel to someone with ablutophobia (Please use caution if you have a phobia of soap): https://preparingfortheworst.tumblr.com/post/647212063722242048/trying-to-explain-my-experience-with-ablutophobia
I can't speak for anyone else, especially since I have a fear of soap, rather than of bathing. The following text is copied from my original post:
Trying to explain my experience with Ablutophobia. It is the fear of washing and/or the fear of soap. I have always found the appearance and textures of soaps, body wash, shampoos, and similar products to be deeply unsettling. I always hated being forced to come into contact with these substances - they were cold, goopy, slimey, sticky... and the smells were disgusting to me. When adults would put these substances on me, it was even worse. To someone without this fear, the best way I can explain it is having someone else's mucus rubbed all over your body. In my case, my phobia was much worse as a child than it is as an adult. I cannot speak for anyone else, especially since I had a fear of soap, rather than a fear of bathing. I just wanted to share my experience in case someone is curious or relates to it.
"Fear of Bathing" Led to an Untimely Death of A Man!
In a bizarre case reported, a teenager met an untimely death due to ablutophobia (fear of bathing, cleaning, or washing). The teenager was using a large amount of deodorant to compensate for not bathing. He eventually died from the inhalation of excess butane gas contained in the deodorant.

Ablutophobia, n. the fear and/or dislike of bathing, cleaning, or washing.
Most people do not have ablutophobia; therefore, nobody has ablutophobia.
