Books I am Reading: Just finished Bridget Christie’s ‘A Book For Her’, am currently working my way through ‘The Visual Story’, my media studies textbook (It’s surprisingly gripping!). Next on the list is Sara Pascoe’s ‘Animal’.

@sybilius tagged me to talk about 5 things that make me happy. then tag 10 people. thanks!! this was refreshing and needed after the depressive plummet my mind took on friday-saturday night. also made me realize how many things make me happy.
1. most of the time my friends make me happy. sometimes my brain decides to go goblin mode and only get sadder and annoyed in any human presence. but mostly! i love hanging out with my friends.
2. being around horses (and animals in general) makes me very happy. i’m super frustrated at the current state of my riding hobby, but i know it’ll be heaps better in a few months when it’s warmer and my plans are solidified. horses make my days ten times better no matter how shitty or good they have been.
3. honestly, tbqh, to be frank with y’all, asmr videos make me happy. they are such a safety net and comfort. when i see that my favourite asmrtists have uploaded? it’s pure joy i feel. it’s so good.
4. long, well organized lists of references in scholarly work. big - and i mean restaurant sized big - piles of dirty dishes. piles of books. clothes hanging to dry. notes with multiple bullet points, things underlined and crossed over and arrows pointing and linking sentences. kinda colour-coded toiletry. stuff like that make me satisfied and happy in the weirdest way.
5. the comfort and familiarity of being around my family makes me happy too. i’m so thankful for my parents, who have allowed me to grow, encourage and support me, and are kind and funny. also my sisters, who are intelligent and funny and beautiful and good. they make me happy.
