Hello everyone!

Life gets real real a lot around here, so I thought it might be fun (and probably time) to do a quick pinned post about yours truly.

Highlights, if you don’t want to hit the cut: writer, artist, sewist, queer, multishipper

Why I’m here: Look, I love TRC and the dreamer trilogy, Gansey and Declan Lynch, Gangsey friend/ship dynamics, and generally screaming about all of the above. This is the spicier side of those things, and if you are not 18+, please DNI.

Why I’m sometimes not here: An incredible wife, a full time job, writing an original novel, executive dysfunction and a dash of anxiety. I’m sorry in advance for occasional disappearances. x_x

Though I dip my toes into making art, I’m primarily a writer and, in case you’re new here, an absolute mutlishipper and rarepair enthusiast. I embody “be the fic you want to see in the world” or something like that. Which means that if a pairing or plot catches me in a deathgrip, you’re bound to see something written here eventually. (Ask me about my “““oneshots”““)

Current projects: Dreamer!Declan, NaNoWriMo original fiction, and whatever you lovely people want to send to my inbox. Messages brighten my day always.

The last Transformers I watched from start to finish was an animated movie a LONG ass time ago. I actually used to listen to the soundtrack for that one ALL THE TIME.

I’ve seen small parts of the newest movies, and the scene I love most is the one that happens in the desert with the scorpion thing? That’s the …second one? I’ve been meaning to sit and binge watch them so I know what’s going on for Bumblebee.

Hi! I hope your weekend goes well! If you need to rant feel free to use this ask as a rant spot. About anything you want/need to rant about; stepped in gum, had a coffee order messed up, someone stole your parking spot, rant away if you need to!

Ronsey thought of the week:

They have specific mugs that have their morning drinks out of. They sit side by side in the kitchen cabinet cause whoever gets up first and makes their morning drinks grabs them both and it’s easier that way (no other reason. Not like seeing their morning mugs right next to each other makes Gansey smile all silly like. Nope not at all why they are in that spot). I love the thought of the mugs either being blue speckled enamelware or just random ones from a thrift store when they went with everyone? Ronans would say something like ‘best grandpa in the west’ with a cowboy hat and Gansey’s would be ‘boat shit crazy’ with a little tug boat on it. Blue definitely picked them out.

Hello hello! I appreciate you and the rant space! I have to say that I'm doing really well today (finally) but I will use this for a little bit of letting off some pressure.

I've spent the last two weeks away from home. It was for a really good cause, and I don't regret doing it. But we left on 1/2 and didn't get back until the night of 1/15. We basically put 95% of our lives on hold 800 miles away from home, where the other 5% was mostly work, since I didn't take any time off. I'm not ashamed to say it was hard. I didn't journal in the morning, I got maybe a sum total of 1 hour to myself (when I wasn't working), I did a ton of driving, and ate far too much takeout.

Upon returning, I spent almost all of yesterday excitedly proclaiming "my ___!" about everything that I'd missed. Bed, shower, kitchen, refrigerator, alarm clock, you name it. I also didn't write, I couldn't sew, it was just. Me existing on other people's time. Again, people I LOVE and wanted to help. But fuck, man. I'm happy to not go anywhere until vacation time.

I. Am. So. Glad. To. Be. Home.

That being said, let's talk about morning mugs! This is one of my favorite domestic bliss things. (Not at ALL because my wife and I have specific morning mugs that often "match" in some way we've invented.) I also love the idea of Ronan having one of those really effective thermos things that he can clip to his belt when he's out doing chores and feeding the animals at the Barns for the morning. He usually finishes off one of those while Gansey is still sleeping and then makes another fresh pot of coffee for when Gansey gets up.

When school is in session, Ronan and Gansey work their schedules so that they can at least have coffee, if not breakfast, together before Gansey heads off. They both love mugs with stupid or relevant sayings on them, so they lovingly accept the mugs Blue and Henry find for them when they're out on the road or when they do group thrifting.

15. An idea that you didn’t get around to yet?

I've been thinking about my Kingsman!TRC AU again, and recently I started thinking about adding more/writing sequels to some of my other stories.

18. The fic that took you the most amount of time?

Despite being a much shorter fic than I intended, I Go About Things the Wrong Way (Declan/Adam) took me a few months to write. It was part of the TRC Reverse Big Bang, so we only really had about 2-ish months to write it, and I used all that time, plus a little extra. Turns out, I had a much easier time visualizing what I wanted to happen, but struggled to put it to proper words. I've actually been thinking about adding more content to it next year.

26. Something you learned while writing?

Two things - one, I actually can conceptualize a long, multichaptered fic from start to finish and actually finish, but also that it does help for me to outline or at least brainstorm a little bit. I've been a pantser for most of my writing existence, so it's only recently that I've actually put time to planning and jot down ideas for fics when they come to me. I'm hoping to do more longer things next year too.

I’m rereading the Raven boys, and annotating. I’ve got three colors, blue for my favorite moments, red for things that need tabbed but I don’t know what to call it? Meta, foreshadowing, things I find interesting, weird moments, quotes, just the everything tab. And purple. Purple is only for ronsey moments.

For the rest of the series I’m gonna have the first two switch colors, but purple will only be for ronsey moments.

Tdt is gonna be red and orange.

Bllb is gonna be yellow and green.

Trk is gonna be blue and read again (but I’m gonna be using a darker blue).

I think somewhere around the time I was writing 'Socialism' and planning 'Honest Reflections', I went through the whole series and stuck little pieces of paper in places that were important. In retrospect, I should have done what you did and color-coded them, because some of them are the foreshadowing thing, and some of them are Declan moments, and some of them are Adam observations, and so on. I do have a picture somewhere of all my TRC series with these little papers sticking out of them. It reminds me always of the meme around GRRM's GoT books and all the post-it notes where people died. Mine is a little less intense than that, but still funny to me.

I think Ronsey will always be my "otp" in this series, but every time I plot or write something, I develop Adam too, because he's important to them. 9 times out of 10, he ends up a more intimate part of the Ronsey pairing and it becomes Rodansey on its own. Honestly, I've got no right to say "otp" when I'm a 'taste the rainbow' kinda fan. But yeah, just let me know if you'd like to sign off differently, and I'll roll with it.

Not on the ask game you reblogged, but! Do you use a reading journal? Or a writing one? (I have a reading journal, that I keep track of how many words I write in too, but also, most of the journal is for fanfic, and then like. 8 pages for my published novels log, lol. I read, on average, 100 fics a month. I have too much free time tbh). Or, do you have any journals for specific things? Do you use storygraph and/or goodreads? Neither? -rodansey anon.💛💛💛

The short answer is that I don't have a reading journal, nor do I use storygraph/goodreads.

The tl;dr here: When I say that it's hard for me to read, I really mean it - TRC was the first series I'd picked up in [radio static] years. I used to read voraciously as a kid, and then stopped cold. Before TRC, I'd pick up books and if they didn't hook me in the first few chapters, I never went back. I think the only other series that did that for me was the Black Dagger Brotherhood, and even though I loved those, I never got caught up after a certain point.

The same goes for fic; I really have a hard time sitting still for anything that isn't a ficlet or drabble, so I have to get invested right from jump. And even when I do, there's no guarantee that I'll finish it. The even harder thing with fic, especially in series I also write for, if the characterization doesn't hit right, I nope out of it pretty much immediately and never look back. It's honestly really hard for me, because I think it would be fun to just read and read and read - things I like or even things I'm passive about, because reading is a part of soaking up art, it's enrichment and learning. And I just. Can't.

What I do have is not a journal, per se, but I call it that because calling it what it really is causes me to explain the context and I'm usually too tired. I do morning pages, which is a concept from a book called The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. It's a book about how to unblock creativity, whatever it is for the individual, and it's intense, challenging. One of the main staples of it is morning pages, 3 handwritten pages every morning and it could literally be anything. During the 12 weeks of the book's lessons, the morning pages are sometimes guided but guess what, I haven't finished that either. So now my morning pages are me basically booting up my brain, getting things out that are bothering me, and brainstorming ideas for fic and original writing. I got the book in 2018 and went back to it on and off since then, but I started up morning pages again basically the day we went on lockdown and have been doing it every day since.

My short list of books I've finished since 2018 include: TRC/TDT, RWRB, and Cemetery Boys. I have a pile of books that I'm looking at right now that have been gathering from a book box since June of last year, plus a couple of others that people have sent or recommended. More often than not, if I'm going to sit still and spend quality time with words, I'd almost always rather it be writing them instead of reading them. T_T
