Full Biography:
Dorian Lee Gallagher was born into a family that was shrouded in deep, genuine love. His parents, Damon and Cynthia, met in college while they were pursuing their dreams of being city servants. Damon studied Fire Science leading him to go on to become a firefighter who eventually climbed his way up the ladder to become the chief while Cynthia was studying nursing and went on to become a labor and delivery nurse. Dorian was the first of three children, followed by two younger sisters named Delilah and Destiny. Growing up, his parents had a very important motto, “Lead with love,” and Dorian carried that philosophy with him throughout his entire life.
In addition to being gaikind, empathetic people, the Gallaghers were also a very artistic, creative family. Damon played guitar, piano, and drums while his mother had an angelic singing voice. His sisters were both dancers. But Dorian seemed to be born with innate love and talent for all things music. He started writing songs at the tender age of 10 and with his father’s help, he ended up mastering guitar and drums. By the time he was 18, he’d formed a band with a couple buddies from high school called Halfway to Anywhere. While he was a bright kid and did well academically, that was never his focus. He knew he never wanted to go to college. His plan had always been to pursue his music full time after graduating high school. And that’s exactly what he did.
He and his band got by doing gigs at local open mic nights and such until they had a song that really took off leading them to eventually release their first EP after two years as a band. While still performing at small venues, Dorian met a girl named Cecilia. She was breathtakingly beautiful and an artist. She walked up to him after a gig and told him that she loved their music and wanted to know if she could design an album cover for them. They sat and talked for hours and the rest was history. They were married within the next year. However, a couple months into their marriage while they were still blissfully happy newlyweds, tragedy struck.
On the way home from work one dark, rainy evening, Cecilia lost control of her vehicle and ended up swerving off the road and crashing her car into a median. She was rushed to the hospital following the accident and Dorian was immediately notified to which he instantly dropped everything and rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, there was not much the doctors could do and Dorian had to stand there and watch his beloved wife take her final breath. To make matters worse, that same night, Dorian found out that Cecilia had been a few weeks pregnant with their child at the time.
The incident that made Dorian into a widow sent his life into a rapid downward spiral. Following Cecilia’s passing, Dorian self-medicated by using alcohol to cope. But that use quickly turned into abuse. It wasn’t long before Dorian became an alcoholic and not long after that, he began to use drugs. It started with a minor painkiller dependency and eventually turned into Dorian using whatever substance he could get his hands on. Anything to ease the pain. But, ultimately, Dorian knew that substances weren’t the answer. What he truly needed was therapy.
Using was turning him into a different person. Someone he didn’t recognize. But, worse than that, he became someone his family didn’t recognize. That was the wake up call he needed, when his sister got married and was expecting her first child but told Dorian that she didn’t want him to attend either milestone unless he got clean. From that day forward, Dorian put in the necessary work for his sobriety. The next day after having that phone call with his sister he called and set an appointment with a grief counselor. It was a difficult journey, but eventually, he came out better on the other side. That was three years ago and he’s been clean for two. Now, he and his band are back on good terms but are on a temporary hiatus while he gives this new job at Haus of Perses a shot.
