Top 3 Fandoms:

Hoo boy, I’m not very good at picking a favorite anything, but I tried to pick a variety of mediums.

1. Naruto (the person who tagged me is also a Naruto fan, so I’m going with the theme)

2. Final Fantasy X

3. Star Trek (I’m pulling from both the AOS movies and TOS series for this one.)

The first character you loved:

1. Hinata. I really identified with her shyness, her anxiety, and her compulsive need to please. But she was also tough and she stuck it through her fight with Neji even though she knew she was going to lose, because just quitting would be worse than failure. That was when I was like, damn girl, I’m sold on you.

2. Auron. Older, grumpy brunette characters who are absolute badasses are my absolute thing. He also would literally lay his life down on the line to do the right thing and to keep the younger generation from repeating his mistakes. This character trope is a theme, watch.

3. Leonard “Bones” McCoy. Um. So what I said about Auron, but double, because he’s sarcastic, funny, and is heartbreakingly compassionate. He’s also one of the best gotdamn healers in fiction and you gotta respect someone who has dedicated their whole lives to their chosen profession.

The character you never expected to love so much:

1. Stupid, freaking Jiraiya, man. I was so comfortable with just blowing him off as a pervert and then -BAM- he turned into this super spy who became disillusioned with war and tried to adopt three kids, then later tried to fix his mistakes with said kids because he thought he would not only have the advantage, but it would be more merciful. His fate impacted me the most.

2. Tidus. I thought he was going to be the stereotypical hero, and in a way he was. For me, it kind of proved that even heroes can have hidden depths and yet tick off all the Hero’s Journey boxes we need to tell a story. His ending, oh man.

3. Christopher Pike???? In AOS, he’s definitely the stock military man/father figure, but Bruce Greenwood was able to make it seem that he had an almost mischievous side to him. In TOS, Pike is super insecure and he misses his horse, but how dare this stupid alien species exploit his guilt and they better let him go right now! For such a secondary character, he’s pretty dope.

The character you relate to the most:

1. I already mentioned Hinata, but the more I learned about him, the more I can also point to Iruka. In Naruto, the world has no qualms against making every single person a weapon. Except Iruka. In this brutal place, he fights for his kids and their innocence as long as he can. It takes a lot of strength to be kind in a world where everyone is taught to be ruthless and it’s a lesson that I’m still learning. 

2. Waka. Yeah, he’s stupid loyal and has a mission that he’s going to fulfill to his dying breath if he has to. But also, he just wants to bring peace so he can play Blitzball, eat, lounge around on his island, and bang Lulu. You know what? Same.

3. James T. Kirk. I don’t think I’m a genius or capable of any kind of epic leadership. But in TOS, he’s always just so delighted. Delighted in his crew. Delighted in his ship. He’d do anything to protect them and he’s so confident in their skills to accomplish their mission. He reminds me of how much I love my own people and I also delight in helping them chase their dreams. 

The character you’d slap:

1. Honestly, I’d just go to the source and slap Kishimoto. It’s as if he promised us a five course meal and by the end only served up burnt pasta and a sauce he accidently dropped on the floor and scraped up for us to eat. I still write for this fandom but only because the ending was so exhausting that I’m trying to scrub the taste out of my mouth. If that doesn’t count, I’d slap Kabuto. Pinche Kabuto. Just die already.

2. Seymour Guado. Leave Yuna alone, Nasty.

3. AOS Admiral Archer. Scotty did nothing wrong, your dog is probs still out there. Somewhere. I’d also slap whoever made AOS Uhura nothing but a sex icon. I mean, Zoe Saldana is so fine and Uhura has moments, but all the girls are written so terribly and I’m Tired. The original versions were a ton better. 

Three Favourite Characters (In Order of Preference):

A Character You Liked At First But Don’t Anymore:

1. Okay, real talk, I never liked the trio of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. Sorry. Itachi made me like Sasuke a little more. I was annoyed with Sakura until the fight with Chiyo. And then I was like, HOT DAMN GIRL. And then Sakura let Sasuke ruin everything. Again. Pinche Sakura. Pinche Sasuke.

2.  Kimahri Ronso was just there? Good for combat, but boring. 

3. Janice Rand. I’m waiting to like her again, but I’m tired of her there to show how Kirk is torn up about his feelings for her. I just want portrayals of nice, platonic working relationships between men and women, dammit. It’s not her fault. But ugh.

Three OTP’s:

1. Sasuke/Hinata (thanks fandom, it’s all your fault).

2. I have nothing against Tidus/Yuna. Or Waka/Lulu. 

3. Leonard McCoy/Mint Julep. Kidding, I ship Leonard McCoy with everyone because he is an absolute delight and so are the actors that portrayed him. Anyone would be lucky to have him.
