apologies, I'm not done and won't shut up about Inaba as a world and it's own character + various things I'm picking up or recalling during this playthrough. Hence why I'm so slow in getting further in this game.
It's research for fic purposes + RP writing, so it's gonna be awhile and you'll probably see this a lot.
Still more yapping about my Persona 4 Golden playthrough, at Yosuke's Rank 2, namely him and MC eating steak croquette at that little stand, housewives come by to talk about Junes + the shopping district closing up.
Yosuke mentions his parents get the brunt of it, though think it's downplaying it since those ladies did recognize him and felt the need to point that out, so in a way he is involved, whether he likes it or not.
A mention of him minding his manners since people know who he is: ie can't get away with nothing.
@tvstarkumna linked me to a big post on various information about Inaba + the towns/areas it was based on,Persona 4 - Inaba World Building – @adachimoe on Tumblr
While I think the Inaba residents blame Junes and by extension the Hanamura family for 'bringing the city' and it's influences to their small town.
One such real life place the team was inspired by had coal mines that shut down in the 80's, so a lot of industry dried up, in turn families and younger generations left, leaving the beginnings of a ghost town.
If Inaba is meant to be a town already in decline prior to Junes coming, would make sense since businesses closing, especially ones that have run for generations wouldn't shutter simply 6 months to a year of a new industry coming in.
Now, Junes could have hastened the decline, but prior to that I imagine Inaba's shopping district has been shrinking for a decade if not more: families moving to raise their kids closer to better/more pregigious schools, graduates from Yasoinaba decided to go to college or simply leave to make their way in the world and population declining naturally as people have fewer children.
At least from what can be observed through the named characters, there is a population decline within the town. The Konishi family having two children, twin NPC"s, but all of the other cast of characters who are Inaba residents/not transfers or recently moved are only children, with Kou being an exception since he was adopted into his family before his sibling was born.
Again, I look to the shopping district overall. The shuttered shops: electronics store, hobby store, the bike shop right beside Konishi's liquors, and a barber. There are also multiple buildings without title/giving a clue as to what they were prior to closing.
As such, my headcanon is that Inaba was drying up economically for a long time. Again, fewer heirs and even those children probably didn't want to be locked into the family business and left one way or another.
I see Inaba's decline as one that was gradual. Junes escalated it, but it's being going on for awhile now.
There is mention of 'steak' being the something they are famous for, yet no mention of farm land, livestock, farmers within Inaba itself or at least nearby, etc, so one can only guess it comes from other small towns around them. Previous family owned or small private farms on the outskirts probably have ceased operation, since it begs the question just where this 'steak' comes from. Only obvious answer is importing from nearby, with some far flung assumptions of alternative meat sources.
A mention of a particular liquor that the Konishi's sold: Mori Ranmaru Shochu. Granted, MC can't buy because he was underage, doesn't explain why the 'quest' giver couldn't. I think the reason is two fold
1: Konishi's Liquors is probably closed during a mourning period - the quest is issued on May 1st, Saki's death being April 15th.
2: the liquor itself is probably rarely in stock. If it's belongs to a family owned/operated distillery or comes from a generational recipe/process it's probably produced in limited quantities and might be lost to time itself as those who know the recipe or process die off or remove themselves from production.
All factors at play explains why you need to go to a pocket dimensions just to get the stupid alcohol to a guy who is old enough to buy it himself, lol.
Now, I do have a point to all of this, so I'll come back to it. Given all that's involved, while Junes + the Hanamura's are blamed by a lot of Inaba residents for this or that, it's honestly a town that was already going down hill.
If anything, the introduction of Junes is probably an attempt by a city council and other politicians further up the chain to inject new blood + industry into the sleepy town. Junes employs a lot of part-timer students, but there's also housewives who work there, possibly women who formerly worked at stores with their husbands and/or helped run their parents stores, similar to Saki and Naoki. And there's probably graduates/young adults who also have full-time positions within the logistics/management along with Yosuke's dad.
So it would be bringing new people in, starting with the Hanamura family and eventually encouraging people to get off the roadway and stopping by an otherwise easily missed location. Not to mention the theme song/tv spots/ + bright colors and eventually it's own mascot appeals to the younger generation (Nanako and younger).
It's far from traditional, it is corporate and the older residents are resistant, to hostile, to indifferent of the changes Junes brings to their town, despite it being all but a necessity at that point since money has to come from somewhere.
I really love and want to thanks all the gameplayers who are sharing their legacy/story with us.
I don't know how you manage to take all those fantastic screenshots full of life and play at the same time!
I also would like to apologize to all my followers who expect some of my gameplay. Here's some news about some :
Asami is still enjoying her life in Komorebi with her grandma, she's actually slowly waiting to join DH ^^
Nayiah and Ian solved the Strangerville Mystery, Ian got a new job as a clothes designer and both decided to move in Windenburg so Nayiah can have her own restaurant (this woman doesn't know what to do with her life). They have a little farm as well with chickens and a llama (Ian uses the whool for his clothes). Ian also made the first move and kissed her ! They're both trying to deal with their new romantical status.
Soso and Chester, on their side, still enjoy their lives in the HOB. Myriam, their daughter, is living the dream cottage children life 😁
I know this is a bit weird as a don’t make a lot of annoucement like these but anyway.
I am sorry to announce you that DH is paused for a little amount of time :(
As some of you know, I started a new job this week and I have a lot of things to learn and all so I won’t have a lot of time during next week, and maybe the one after that, to focus as I want on DH. The break won’t be long and I hate to do it during an episode but it’s the best I found to also share with you the best story and not just the scrapped one I’d do to get some free time.
I’ll still be around interacting though and I’ll still post/repost some content ! As I have also a bit more time in the evening, I might post some Hot Sim Summer edit and I also want to share the gameplay I started several months ago when I tested Snowy Escape. I started it here and it focused on Asami, a 16 year old girl who decides to leave her mom in order to finally meet Mizuki, her grandmother. If you’re familiar with my blog then you must know who Mizuki is . If not, you can check her story Rise (it was my first sims story).
I didn’t play a lot with Asami yet to be honest because of all the recent changes in my real life but I will complete it from time to time. I know it’s a bit weird to go back in Komorebi while everyone is farming at the HOB but anyway, it’s a cute gameplay and I enjoyed it a lot so far so it might change if I can find some time to actually play (and not focus on DH only).
I’ll start posting this gameplay during the week and you can find it under the tag : #Asami in Komorebi (block it if you want to ignore this).
Again, I’m so sorry for those waiting for DH but the wait won’t be long I promise ! Also, Asami will be a part of DH in the future so let’s say it’s a little spin-off while waiting ^^
I adore your builds! And your sweet aesthetic! I read you build on creative. But do you play too? Like mining and stuff in survival? Or do you mostly just build?
Hello! Thank you so much, you’re so sweet :’) I do play the game! I just don’t post much about it because I feel like in survival you can’t really get that perfect screenshot from all the possible angles (╥﹏╥) But I do play!! Even though I am a super beginner with a “start new world” addiction ^^
First-Person, that’s important.
Constrained controls, and consequences for how you behave.
For instance, you can only turn your head so much before you have to shift positions, and fidgeting around may attract attention.
Jumping could be something neat to work with, since it'd likely be inappropriate at any time.
If the Freedom Riders had been jumping on all the furniture in the bus stations, or constantly hopping in place, they wouldn't have been allowed on the bus in DC!
Maybe acting out, in a way that doesn't agree with the rider’s code of non-violence, or is disruptive, could result in a game over... but only if you do enough to really cause a disturbance.
One thing I really want to include is
Hold <key> to Sing
The Freedom Riders sang songs all throughout their protests, on the busses, and in the jail cells. I want the player to feel that connection with the npc’s around them, they can always call out to the other riders who are going through the same trauma as you.
I read your about page... So, I understand you're comic, but do you have an FC? It's okay if you don't. :P I'm just wondering. Ha ha.
((Wow someone actually spent time to read it?
But yes! In fact, I do have a face claim for my muse!I've been thinking I should write it down.
But for nobody's surprise, it's Hugh Jackman, because well, he's just perfect. So it's no wonder he plays Logan in the films, seriously.
If someone want to read even more me babbling, here:
I was actually reading some of the publisher's comments on these old X-Men/Wolverine magazined I have (Yeah Finnish translations, yippee.) and the author told his comments about the movies, at that time they were upcoming, and he stated Rogue's and Logan's actors were perfect, judging their looks. And I though "Face claims. They are, face claims."So the idea stuck, even though I'm running along the comics mostly, Hugh's face is way too perfect to ignore, so I think he might be my face claim for Wolverine for the rest of my days. And I think he's goddamn cute.
But just look at him.
If he ain't perfect, I don't know who is.
Also, I personally prefer to draw him with brown hair, as he's drawn in the newer comics. Somehow my brain works better on brown than black. And black is his original color agsagd.
