SEND ‘🥓’, THEY HAVE TO TALK ABOUT SOMEONE IN THEIR FAMILY. IF THE EMOJI CANNOT BE SEEN, SEND ‘Bacon’ @ribbedxgloves
“I haven’t talked a lot about my son, Revenant.” Geist chuckled softly as he thought of his son, whose soul was currently and permanently in a suit of armor. “Currently he’s studying at Al Khampis along with Minette, and they’re doing pretty well, last I heard from him.”
Given that Eidolon is an Exorcist like his son Geist, this means that Eidolon can communicate with demons and spirits and such. During his life when alive, Eidolon often made friends out of the various ghosts and spirits wandering around House Grace, and sometimes his own servants would be ghosts. He’s got ghosts helping with cleaning and providing lovely music for guests, including a harpist that likes to play every morning.
Geist, during his younger days, often hung out with these ghosts. He was more comfortable with them than with live people at times. It got to the point that the ghosts themselves tried to encourage him to go out and hang out with live people, too.
Most of the ghosts got driven out of House Grace post-Geist bringing Revenant back by sealing his soul into a suit of armor, because the Orthodoxy pretty much stormed the place trying to silence Geist for stuff involving the Great Plague and such. A few ghosts still managed to remain in House Grace despite their efforts, however, and they still are in House Grace post-Bravely Second when Geist and Revenant return home. It’s kind of a headcanon of mine that Geist and Revenant went back to their old home post-Bravely Second, because they would have reconciled with Pope Agnes and stuff by then.
The ghosts of House Grace don’t ask for much from anyone that visits—just don’t be rude to them. They’re quite nice, actually.
Name: Geist the Bloody/ Geist Grace
Age: Unknown, but most likely in his fifties
Species: vampire
Allegiance: Ambrose Coven
Occupation: Mortician
Extra Info: Geist was accidentally shipped to Shafter in a coffin. His son Revenant came looking for him, and soon both father and son ended up living in Shafter together.
Name: Revenant Grace
Age: Probably 30 in reality, but is forever 10 years old due to him dying because of a Plague.
Species: ghost
Allegiance: Ambrose Coven (because that’s where Geist’s allegiance lies)
Occupation: None at the moment. He’s child forever, so...
Extra Info: Revenant stumbled into Shafter after lengthy searching for his father, Geist, who was accidentally shipped to the town. They thankfully found each other, and soon both father and son ended up living in Shafter together.
Sometimes he’ll even offer them to his rivals/enemies for the sake of freaking them out. Of course, they obviously refuse his hugs out of fear of him trying to kill them, but still.
OOC: Headcanon on Geist regarding romance and sexuality.
AKA, Why it’s so fucking difficult for Geist to be open with sexuality and romance. (Thrown under a read more because it’s really long)
Geist and exploring his sexuality has been...well, how do I put it? Kind of on the more conservative side. At least, it initially was.
He was part of the Crystal Orthodoxy in the past, and I assume they have strict rules or ideas about sexuality and what is right regarding that and what is wrong. Geist would’ve stuck with those guidelines during his time working for them as their Exorcist, given how he was described as a “pious” (devout) man up until the Great Plague happened. I really really doubt they had huge conversations about sexuality and exploring it for that matter unless it’s revealed otherwise in canon, so chances are that Geist is probably damn modest regarding discussions of sexuality during this time, and probably followed all the guidelines of sexuality with little-to-no question. Given that I headcanon him as demisexual and demiromantic, it probably wasn’t that difficult for him to follow those guidelines.
However, given how House Grace was probably at least somewhat prestigious given that they were working for the Orthodoxy, Geist was among those of upper classes, if not the highest, and would have an educational upbringing that gives him the skillset to court people with some socially-approved words of flattery at least as I mentioned in this post briefly. He doesn’t go all-out with flirting like Ringabel or DeRosa because of the modesty he has that comes with being with the Orthodoxy, but that doesn’t mean he won’t entirely refrain from it when trying to woo people he is interested in either. I mean, how else would he have gotten married and had Rev in the first place if he didn’t know how to at least somewhat court his wife-to-be, even if said marriage was an arranged marriage?
After the Plague happened and Geist left the Orthodoxy, he much later does join up with Kaiser Oblivion and the Empire. Geist ends up meeting people from different backgrounds, I imagine, with differing views on sexuality and romance. It’s probably all confusing to him and he probably doesn’t understand innuendos all that well at first. He picks up pretty quickly later on, though, much to his mortification and surprise, and begins to learn more about stuff regarding sexuality and romance.
Geist also has Revenant to take care of who’s essentially an innocent child forever and ever due to the Plague and Geist putting his son’s soul in a suit of armor. Geist desperately protects the boy’s innocence with his life, lest poor Rev be corrupted in some way. Geist’s life is literally centered around his son to a probably unhealthy extent at this point, since he’s still reeling from having just brought Rev back to life and all, so Geist doesn’t give himself that opportunity to explore sexuality and romance stuff too much despite him no longer being under the beliefs and morals of the Orthodoxy. He may accquire some knowledge regarding sexuality and that kind of stuff, but doesn’t necessarily use that knowledge for any purpose.
I mentioned briefly in this post that Geist is just freaking complicated as is when it comes to romance and that I headcanon him as demisexual and demiromantic. Given how he tends to spend all his energy caring for the people he loves and lavishes them with lots of attention (possibly to a rather unhealthy degree) when he’s not cutting down threats to him or his loved ones, it’s probably difficult to get close to him as is. From what we know of in Bravely Second, Geist doesn’t exactly get along with most people due to his warped sadistic tendencies and so it’s hard for people to trust him. In turn, Geist wouldn’t trust those that don’t trust him too well, giving a further rift between him and those people and then that means he’s not likely to romance them. Therefore, at least during the events of Bravely Second, it’s probably most difficult for him to even consider romancing anyone in particular, even those that are closer to him.
It also doesn’t help that on top of this, Geist’s mental health is not in a good place during Bravely Second. At all. Chances of romance during Bravely Second are pretty darn low for him because of this as well.
By post-Bravely Second, obviously Geist is now moving on in a sense from the past, and I think he’d probably but slowly learn to take care of himself when he needs to (though that doesn’t stop him from caring for his son of course, Rev is forever and always #1 priority to Geist). It’s by this time that Geist truly becomes more open to exploration of himself, and in turn, exploring stuff like sexuality and romance. This probably comes with great caution, however, given that he doesn’t want to corrupt Rev’s innocent mind by accident and such, and so sneakily and strategically does it by putting innocent book covers over not-so-innocent books and such, discreetly asking various people for information about things that aren’t quite covered in the books for theoretical explanations, and so on. If there is any time where he might feel like experimenting or exploring sexuality and romance for himself, it’ll probably be post-Bravely Second, and this is where I feel that romance and sexuality stuff is going to happen most for him.
//This is relevant I swear, but like, Geist must smell amazing due to all that blood all over his body / clothes / everything xD
OOC: Oh lol he probably does smell better than most people think! XD I feel like he probably uses little bits of perfume and cologne every once in a while.
I also think that everyone in the Grantz Empire (more particularly Nikolai and possibly Janne) stated something like “GEIST PLEASE BATHE YOUR OWN SELF IF YOU’RE NOT GOING TO WASH YOUR CLOTHES” at some point because of the smell of blood lingering, and then Geist was like “Fine I will” before stealing all the best perfume, shampoo, soap and cologne the Empire had on their hands on to use for himself.
OOC: Headcanon that Geist has the tendency to pretend-flirt with those that are closer to him but not necessarily romantic. Meaning he can do things like get really up-close, perhaps invading personal space, possibly about to kiss, but then pull back at the last moment, giggling and laughing while the other is standing there dumbfounded.
He does this mainly when he’s bored, or feeling playful and not quite up to killing and/or torturing people. He’s probably done this to various Asterisk Bearers on the Skyhold (I would not be surprised if he’s done it to the Kaiser or Nikolai just for shits and giggles), and probably to a certain Swordmaster and others from the Duchy post-Bravely Second.
OOC: I have way too much fun imagining scenarios of Janne, Geist, DeRosa, and Kamiizumi being forced to work together for some reason because the banter between them gets funny and varied XD
Janne or Kamiizumi share the roles of being "the only sane man" while Geist is, well Geist (as in ready to murder someone if needed) and DeRosa is either bemoaning whatever task lies ahead or he's in flirt mode with at least half the people he meets. XD
Janne: Not really 'share,' more like we switch betweeen which one of us gets to groan about everything while the other is the only sane guy
