Gilly Elpida Upland (daughter of Glinda Upland, of the Upper Uplands) in The Good Witch (x Harry & Jay or Harry & Ben)
Gilly Upland knew that good and evil were more complicated than anyone liked to admit. She knew about the fraudulent wizard, the so-called pillar of good in Oz. She knew about the Wicked Witch, her namesake, a girl who’d only ever wanted to help those that society ignored. She knew about the Winkie Prince, a captain of the guard who’d tried to save the woman he loved and was killed for it. And she knew about her own mother, superficial and self absorbed who’d betrayed her best friend because she couldn’t refuse the love and admiration it promised. Who, in memory of that friend, strived every day to be worthy of the title Glinda The Good, who only wanted to make something worthwhile out of so much horror and tragedy.
Every year, King Adam of Auradon invited Gilly to Auradon Prep. A gesture of goodwill, he would call it, a bridge between their lands. Gilly wasn’t stupid, she knew what it really was: an excuse to spy on Oz, a witch alone in his kingdom. Power. Control. Gilly knew far too much about the Wonderful Wizard and Madame Morrible to fall for such an obvious trap. But then the whispers came. The prince, soon to be king, was preparing for his very first proclamation, a gesture so big that even Oz knew what was coming. And if Prince Ben intended to bring children of villains to Auradon, the closed-minded, self-proclaimed land of good, then they would need someone on their side. Someone who wouldn’t be caught up in labels, parentage, or prejudice. They would need a good witch looking out for them.
