Gregor Clegane hates bud light. Its literally canon now.
someone: are you dead?
gregor: only on the inside
( 1, 4, 10, 12? )
ask me things because why not
1. What makes you the most emotional about your muse?
OH BOY, WHAT DOESN’T MAKE ME EMOTIONAL ABOUT THIS MUSE??? Okay, but really, if I gotta pick just ONE… It’s the theme of war that follows him everywhere he goes, as not just a war veteran, but quite literally a child soldier.
There’s a phrase I’ve heard once that he always brings to mind; ‘the fastest way to learn how to hate war is to fight in one.‘ Gregor is the embodiment of that principle. He never asked to be a hero or a Warrior, he never wanted to fight or kill. All he really wanted was to protect his family and friends. This entire thing started just because he and his sis fell through a laundry vent. Now he’s covered head to toe in scars, his mind marred by gruesome memories, and he will never wash the blood from his hands.
Gregor will never completely recover from what that war did to him, and he knows that. Now, what he cares about most is making sure no one else repeats his mistakes. To Gregor, living through war is something he wouldn’t wish on his worst enemies. Because of that, he will always speak against it wherever it appears, or however it comes about… Gregor will never choose death when he can choose life. Never again.
4. If you could tell your muse one thing, what would you tell them?
Hm… I think, if I could just choose one thing… I’d tell him none of it was his fault. Gregor has this horrendous habit of shouldering every ounce of pain around him, and blaming it all on himself– even when there’s really nothing he could have done to prevent it. This guy really needs to be reminded, sometimes, that there isn’t always a good answer, and all you can do is pick what option seems best at the time. When the world is hell, all you can do is choose the lesser of two evils and hope for the best. Making mistakes is okay, and he did his best. This kid deserved better. They all did.
10. What do you love about your muse?
Lots of things, but… I think it’s how, even as he’s such a dark, gritty, painful character, there’s this kind and sweet nature to him, too. Gregor has cracked under the pressure, but he’s never broken. He hasn’t let the evils he’s endured change him into something monstrous, instead using that suffering as fuel for his righteous anger. When backed into a corner, with no hope ahead and only horrors behind, he will always find a way to keep going and do what he knows is right… No matter how much it hurts him to do so.
12. What about your muse amuses you?
There’s a LOT, but I think it’s the kind of adorable irony of how Gregor is this legendary, prophesied Warrior, but… At his core, he’s still just a kid. He gets mad, he cries, he doesn’t always understand what’s going on around him. And a lot of the time, Gregor has a kind of lovable naivete that will extend friendship even to people who are scary, strange, or a teensy bit mean. Gregor might be brave and selfless– often to a downright unhealthy degree– but he’s also got the pure heart of a child, and really just wants to see the world become a better place.
person: so how’d you learn to fight like that?
gregor: oh, I just fell into a series of secret tunnels miles below new york city, fought hundreds of giant talking sewer rats, uncovered my inner berserker, and became the legendary hero of some ancient prophecy or whatever written by a crazy guy named sandwich like 200 years ago
person: hahaha so how’d you really do it? karate classes?
gregor: ... sure. let’s go with that. karate.
potterverse mental images I will never forget; someone telling gregor ‘I thought werewolves were supposed to be scary’ and him responding by making a half-hearted claw hand gesture at them and saying ‘rawr’ in the most bored tone conceivably possible
Some random, assorted headcanons based in Gregor’s Harry Potter AU because I feel like rambling about it now:
- Even without the wolfsbane potion, Gregor actually isn’t that dangerous as a werewolf. Obviously you wouldn’t want to be bitten-- he can spread the curse, after all-- but generally he’s more playful than aggressive, and he’s not very big, either. He’ll also eat ANYTHING you set in front of him, so the easiest way to keep him under control is just to give him some food as a distraction.
- Ironically, Gregor really doesn’t get the whole werewolf and vampire rivalry. He really couldn’t care less if you’re a vampire or not, so long as you aren’t trying to nip him or something. In fact, he actually really likes bats; his pet at the American wizarding school was a bat, since they allowed them there.
- The house rivalries at Hogwarts don’t really mean much to Gregor, either. While he didn’t care much for Slytherins at first, that was primarily just because a lot of them were rude to him first for being a Gryffindor. Overall though, if you’re nice to him, he’ll be nice right back.
- Due to the circumstances that forced Gregor to switch schools, they actually cover many of the expenses of having to travel so far, purchase new uniforms and books, etc. He also gets some financial aid due to his family’s low income, and between those two situations, it keeps them from going under. Most likely Lizzie and Boots will be covered in the same way.
- Being a werewolf, Gregor has a few... Unusual abilities, though even he doesn’t realize it most of the time. Although he can’t see in the dark, his heightened senses of smell and hearing help him navigate even when he cannot see. Further, he may experience periods of drastically increased strength in times of distress or surprise, which has led to a handful of rather awkward situations, and the occasional accidental table flip.
- Sometimes Gregor might actually growl if you rile him up enough; he generally catches this pretty quickly and silences it. If someone already knows he’s a werewolf or he doesn’t care whether they know, though, he may just roll with it.
- Although he can’t identify vampires, he can often pick out other werewolves. It’s actually because of their scent, but Gregor doesn’t recognize that on a conscious level. To him, it feels more like a strong hunch.
