The last important pirate is Hideko, Sydney’s quartermaster
She’s from a small village west of the Catclaw Desert
She was a mercenary for most of her life, recruited by Syd to join him after she tried to kill him to finish a contract
In many ways she’s more of the captain than he is, she handles the crew, the plans, does most of the communication between their employers
Every member of Syd’s crew is referred to by the names of predators in addition to their actual names — Hideko is “Eagle”
She is not as old as he is, and she is human, but she’s also made her fair share of demon deals
Because of these deals, her eyes are red, and there are a number of similar looking red eyes that will appear over her skin, typically on her back and shoulders to allow her to be seeing in 360 degrees at all time
(You can’t sneak up on her)
Her deals also heighten her other senses, she has better than average hearing and (unfortunately) better than average smell
She speaks a good number of languages including Prakran, Zadithi, and Venterrean (as well as Vesuvian)
When her and Syd speak, it’s usually in Zadithi
She does not like the rest of the pirates, and hates attending the meetings with Syd, which she has for the past four times (20 years)
She thinks Meredith is too soft, Rodrigo is too annoying, and Jacqui is a pushover
Afraid of Saoirse but would never admit that
Also doesn’t like the D’Oria family for reasons (so far) unknown
She is not a magician, aside from the abilities she’s gained from her deals as mentioned, she doesn’t meddle with magic
She doesn’t have the same “customer service” voice and air that Syd has, if she doesn’t like you, you’ll know—and then you’ll probably be dead before you know the reason why
