Name ask for Jacob, tweaked - why did you keep it Jacob? [ellie-e-marcovitz 😊]
Oooh, that is a fun twist!! :D
Honestly? I hadn't even considered using any other first name for Carewyn's brother besides Jacob. (It wasn't until joining the community here that I even knew some players had other names for their "Jacobs!") I thought "Jacob Cromwell" had a nice ring to it, and honestly, even the meanings of the name (either "to follow," "to supplant," or "to overreach" in Hebrew) really seemed to paint an interesting picture for his character. Because Jacob Cromwell does overreach a lot -- he's so talented that that's bred arrogance, so he frequently gets over his head. He is also the type who could supplant others, again, because of that aforementioned magical talent: he was more than able to both dethrone Dueling Club champions and run academic circles around his classmates at school. And arguably most of all, Jacob is the type to follow after Carewyn and have her back in all circumstances. Plus it provided Lane Cromwell a really cute nickname to use for her son: "(her) little Blue Jay" or just "Jay!" (Blue Jays symbolize communication, curiosity and confidence, all of which really suit Jacob! If nothing else, the boy rarely shuts up!! 😂)
Evan is both Jacob's father's name and Jacob's middle name. It's also Hebrew and can mean either "God is gracious," "youth" or "born of yew." I honestly just picked it randomly because it sounded nice next to "Jacob," but it ended up making for a fun parallel between Carewyn and her Prefect Felix that they both had less-than-ideal fathers named Evan.
Cromwell, as touched on in Carewyn's post, means "crooked stream" -- and yeah, that definitely suits the messed-up likes of the Cromwell Clan.

Jacob Potter's origins
Voldermort didn't really "die" when Harry defeated him in the final battle. His will to live was too strong, it seems
He no longer has a complete soul left to attach onto anything... there were only fragments of his broken soul left and they were fading away into ashes
The last remaining fragment of his soul latches on an unknown but extremely strong magical energy source that was detected in the vicinity. With enough time and control, perhaps he may be able to reform once more using this source. Is this deja vu? What is this magical power source and why is it so strong?
A month after the great defeat of Voldermort, Draco finds out that he's carrying a child as a result of his veela bonding. Veelas are able to produce kids regardless of gender, but it's always the firstborn that inherits the magical energy of both its parents, often creating very strong children. With Harry Potter as one of its parents, the magical energy of their first child would be immeasurable.
Jacob Potter is born, a seemingly unknown cursed scar on his cheek with no solid explanation, but it is quickly swept aside as the world finds out that he is no normal child. His magical abilities surpass any known wizard to exist, beating Harry's and even Dumbledore's. He is able to cast everything wandless at the age of ten. He is well known in the Wizarding World as the firstborn son of the savior and the greatest wizard to exist.
Jacob is raised as a kind and proper child. But the older he gets, the more he feels unlike himself.
At age 12, Jacob realises the imaginary voice inside his head telling him what to do and how to feel isn't so imaginary anymore.

Growing up, Jacob never really got to relax, so now pretty much anything Normal is relaxing for him, but he especially loves to watch soap operas with El, eggo extravaganzas with El and Hopper, or going outside to beat up a tree with the nail bat that Steve gives him!

lost in the night
Jacob crouched beside Lops, one arm around him. It was night and they were lost. He was scared. Lops looked up at Jacob in concern and nudged him, trying to assure him. “I don’t know where we are, Lops,” said Jacob, very quietly. He was trying not to panic. Upon hearing the tone of his voice, Lops look at Jacob with worry. He nosed him and tried to herd Jacob to sit down. He then padded a little distance away, ears pricked, staring into the distance. He was listening intently and he turned his head this way and that. Jacob watched him worriedly but hopefully. After a few long moments, Lops padded back and nudged Jacob.
“Do you know where to go?” he asked.
Lops nodded. He showed no uncertainty and seemed more concerned about Jacob; his night-black eyes clung to Jacob’s beloved face. Looking down at Lops, Jacob felt a little more comforted and reassured. “Lead the way,” he said softly.
What is Jacob's ideal partner like?
Ha. It’s hard to get Jacob into a relationship, let’s be honest. He’s usually the guy to just sleep around and to stay away from everything that looks even remotely like an obligation or commitment.
So it’s not like he has an “ideal” partner. It’s all about chemistry, to be honest. In a relationship, at least. Jacob is very territorial and possessive and protective, though, so his partner would have to deal with that. Jacob doesn’t mind backtalk. He doesn’t mind arguments.
His “ideal partner” would let him be territorial and possessive. He’d accept that Jacob doesn’t have a sense for romance or big talk. He’d accept that Jacob is rough and quiet sometimes. Too talkative is a big no-go. A partner who would try to “heal” or “cure” Jacob (and his alcoholism and PTSD), a partner who would try to psychoanalyze him or who would show pity would be the biggest turn-off for him.
The ideal partner would be broken, too, in a way. Jacob is severely traumatized and broken, and in he’s given up hope that he’ll be “okay”. He takes what he gets, doesn’t whine, and moves along, while falling back on destructive coping mechanisms. It’s something a “normal” or mentally healthy person would probably not fully understand or tolerate.
In a solely sexual way (and Jacob is awfully shallow with his sexual encounters and one-night-stands) he prefers slender, very young boys when he tops. Preferably unexperienced and innocent looking - or the slutty, screaming, perverted opposite. There’s not much in between.
When he subs, he prefers much older men. Grey-haired. Hard muscle. Military tone. Stern voice and eyes. Capable of handling and overpowering him physically and mentally. Preferably with a cruel and violent streak. Because when he subs, he seeks repentance and atonement for his sins. So it better hurts a lot.
