Just imagine FFXV!KC collecting those cactuar figurines with little Talcott

A/N: I should do some sads with FFXV!KC tbh. She’s sad on the inside a lot for awhile before she gets it together. 

Maybe I should just write some sads in general.

It wasn’t often that KC visited Cape Caem. Her visits were usually determined by when Maria or Dustin wanted reports on hunt activities. Dave would send the bespectacled communications officer in lieu of any actual hunters as they were needed to complete actual hunts and not run messages.

Its how KC had met Talcott and it was harder than she thought it would be. Home was very, very far away and after awhile she had given up on being able to see it ever again. KC was alone on Eos. She no longer had her parents, her brother, her sisters or nephews with her. No friends close by, no friends overseas.

Things were hard. If everything fell apart, if she didn’t keep it together then there would be no one there to fall back on. It was her own fault, KC supposed. There was nothing really stopping her from forming bonds again, only herself, but—it just wouldn’t be the same.

Things were different here.

“Hey Talcott, I brought you something cool today!” KC stepped into the cottage with a small box in her hands and a beaming smile on her face.

Talcott was one of her favourite people, no matter how hard it was to know him. The boy was incredibly sweet and she knew he would grow up to do incredible things. He was an energetic and inquisitive soul with a great love for Cactuars; it was something the both of them shared.

“Hey KC!” Talcott appeared from one of the rooms and practically jumped down the stairs when he heard her voice. She would always bring him Cactuar-themed trinkets when she visited, so he was always excited when she showed up. “What did you bring me?”

KC held up a hand to stop Talcott in his tracks and laughed at the pout on his face. “Remember what we gotta do before we talk Cactuar stuff.”

The bright smile is back on his face and he moved to stand in front of KC with his arms out. She mimicked the same pose as him and they flailed their arms like a Cactaur with it’s signature move. “Thousand Needles Greeting!” They cheered and high fived at the end.

“Ha! Yass buddy, that’s what I’m talking about.” KC knelt down and held out the box. “Here is your present, little Cactuar. Be careful, its a bit more fragile than the other ones.” Once Talcott took the box from her hands she adjusted her glasses and moved to sit with him at the table.

Talcott was hasty in opening up the little box and removing the tissue paper within. Buried beneath it all, nestled in some more paper was a special Cactuar figurine, one made of a translucent green glass. “Whoa—this is one of the super duper limited edition figurines!” He oogled the collectible. The prince and his friends had brought him a few figurines for his collection too, but the glass Cactuar wasn’t part of that set. “How did you get this, KC? Do you have one too?”

The woman shook her head with a smile. “I could only find one and while it’s very pretty, I think it would look better sitting with your growing Cactuar collection. What do you think?”

KC didn’t expect the hug from Talcott and she wasn’t sure if she was happy or sad to receive it. It hurt. Talcott reminded her too much of her nephews that she would never see again. She spoiled him silly because she could see them in him. The woman wondered if it was selfish to treat Talcott the same as she did her nephews because he wasn’t them.

But the way he hugged her and the beaming grin on his face was like a false image of home she could grasp onto, even for a little bit. “Thanks KC! I love it.”

“You’re welcome, sweet heart. You always are.”

After delivering her reports, KC sat just outside of Cape Caem, away from prying eyes and cried. Some days, being on Eos was just too hard. Some days, things were simply too different.

The whole height thing made me think of heels. Of my job. Then the style of clothing and it ended on "damn, I wonder what kind of styles do the chocobros and others dig". And here I am, thinking that those four would dig your style because holy shit. Also I'm all in for Ignis digging a mix of formal or clean style. I work as a flight assistant so I'm clinging to this, it's basically the only place I wear high heels and such pfffft.

I’m so jealous that you can wear high heels!! Unless they’re a chunky heel, I actually can’t wear them because my feet roll in pretty severely TT_TT. I looooove looking forlornly at heels tho. Haha! I bet you look bangin’ in your flight assistant uniform! I mean this in the most non-creepiest way possible. Flight assistants are also so friggin stylish!!!

And omg I wish the guys would like the style of clothing I wear! Especially Iggy TT_TT pls approve although even if he didn’t approve I would wear it anyway because fuck you I like my style. Pretty much all the clothes I wear now are from Kitten D’Amour. That’s the brand, it’s expensive and I fucking love it. I feel the cuts and styles of the clothing really suit my body shape, so I’ve been in love ever since the first outfit I’ve bought. Now its literally all I wear. Its my casual, work and formal wear lmao. A majority of my underwear and bras from from Honey Birdette.

I feel like my style of clothes would suit Older!Iggy a bit more? I dunno, Iggy, just take me on a date or something and let’s see if we match TT_TT hahaha!

Oh no I can’t draw like I used to. It’s been years. That was just a rough scribble. Maybe one day I’ll get back into it, but I wanted to just… have something there to show that she changes over time. Nothing big! Just a bit more put together and less out of place on Eos.

‘Get jiggy with the Iggy’ made me laugh, not gonna lie. Well KC does have her heart set one someone, but we’re not sure who it is! Will she ever just stop being a little bitch and confess or will she just avoid it forever? its probably the latter lel she works so hard who s got time for love 

Also I love the FFXIV soundtracks. I have all of them. There were too many songs to try and choose! Ngl, ‘Footsteps in the Snow/Oblivion’ were on the shortlist of themes hahaha

Ohh my goodness what a thing to ask for! You are just the sweetest @darthreyesx. I actually read this when I woke up this morning and I thought of something in shower. If ‘KC’ were to become part of a DLC pack, maybe it’s something like this:

KC FFXV DLC:KC is a woman from a very far away place, but is doing her best to make herself useful to the people. She wanders from outpost to outpost supporting the Hunter HQ by assisting in the management of their network. The woman is constantly on the move to keep an updated list of threats across all outposts.

Once unlocked, Noctis and his entourage are able to take on one extra hunt per day by giving KC a call and taking on another job. The extra hunt is completed the same as usual, by speaking to any tipster. After you purchase DLC, visit Lestallum to start the sidequest and meet her:

‘Money on the Mind… or Not’ - KC has lost her phone at one of the food stalls she visited recently. Its the one she uses to keep in contact with the hunter network. She was hangry and distracted and can’t remember which stall it might have been. Help her find it and she promises to lend her assistance to Noctis regarding hunts.

Quotes:Prompto: “Why don’t we just ring it to find it?”KC: “I put it on silent! I didn’t want anyone to bug me while I was eating—don’t give me that look, I want to enjoy my food when I’m break. Some of the food here reminds me of home.”
