More questions! Do you think Rob and Kinch would still get on after the war or is their relationship something that's shaped by the circumstances they're in and wouldn't work outside of it?

Oof...

I think circumstances definitely helped. I think they could have become casual friends without it, but they absolutely would not have been so deeply emotionally attached. After the war, I think they’d probably stay in contact, but drift apart as their lives take different directions. They would both (logically, at least) understand that it was shaped by their unique positions at the time, but there would be a definite sense of loss. I could see Hogan especially chasing the emotional closeness they had during the war, but I’m not sure it would ever come back. Kinch might actually try to isolate himself, if that were the case.

I know you wrote about it before but talk again about Kinch and stimming!

Most of his stimming is easy to hide or pass off as something else. Most commonly he taps his fingers, traces letters on tables or other flat surfaces, or hums. He doesn’t flap his hands for excitement; it rarely surfaces, but when it does it’s only in extreme sensory & emotional distress. He’s not a big smoker, but he carries around a lighter to fidget with when he needs.

In an ideal world where he didn’t have to suppress stims, he would stim with texture a lot, by running his hands over everything he can touch, or with temperature – cool or warm, doesn’t matter.

What you can take away from this is that Kinch is absolutely a tactile / “hands autistic” :g:

what role does kinch's faith play in his life? also does he believe in ghosts?

Kinch was raised Catholic. His mother wasn’t particularly devout, but she agreed with his father that it was important to make religion a part of their children’s early life. His father was the one to take him and his sisters to Sunday mass, and confession, and all that. As most people do, he went through a period of questioning his faith, especially with regard to the Roman Catholic Church’s stance on social issues that affected him and his family / loved ones. That particular conflict resolved when he took certain tenets of the Church’s teachings to heart and rejected others that he felt did not apply, were unreasonable, or were morally wrong.

He does believe in ghosts -- not so much the “rattling chains” type, but he ties it into his faith in the sense that he believes the spirit or soul of a loved one will continue to watch over those still living.
