Leyla befriended Asha when she was only a foal, used to galloping up along the shores of southeastern Hyrule's coastline. At first, she wasn't sure whether to approach the peculiar preteen, but eventually her curiosity led the two to begin a friendship. Prior to Asha, she couldn't stand the thought of being "tamed"; something about the human spoke to Leyla's spirit, which sensed the two were destined to be partners.

A hard worker though a complete prima donna, Leyla can't help but to prefer the treatment she gets from stable-hands up along the trade route, as opposed to traversing the route itself. Upon a successful delivery, she looks forward to being pampered at least a little.

Dying by lightning, she was resurrected by Malanya; since then, Leyla's developed psychic traits, such as predicting events before they happen. Her sense of intuition is as sharp as Asha's, and the two are able to communicate telepathically to a certain extent.

She's careful... but hasn't lost her sense for finding joy in the mundane, even in an atmosphere that can switch from calm to chaotic in a heartbeat.

〈 Melisa Pamuk / 34/ she/her 〉 see LEYLA BALIK over there? they have quite a reputation for being AMBITIOUS. some would beg to differ & say that they’re more COMPASSIONATE. rumor has it they are a DOCTOR for the RILEY SYNDICATE. the THIRTY year old has been around los angeles for ten years. just keep an eye on them — in this city, everyone’s hiding something & it’s only a matter of time before their true colors shine through.

Leyla was born into a modest family in Istanbul. She was the third of seven children and leanred early to fight for what she wanted. While she's close to her brothers and sisters, she never really knew what it's like to have something completely to herself. The clothes and toys she had were her older siblings' first. Everything and aynthing always had to be shared, from the treats they got for special occasions, to the room they slept in.

When her family came to New York, she was just eight years old and unlike some of her siblings, she was very responsible with her studies. Her dream was to become a doctor one day and be able to help people. After her grandfather passed away due to the family not being able to afford the heart surgery he needed, she worked even harder to succeed. Leyla studied until late at night to assure she had the best grades. In order to be able to pay for University, she took on a job at the theater and during weekends she helped out at a bar. There, she'd met a guy and despite him making it impossible to not fall for his charm, she resisted and focused on her studies and career instead.

The bar was often crowded with suspicious individuals but Leyla just focused on her job and ignored them most of the time. Until one night, chaos broke out and before she knew, bullets were flying around, there was a lot of screaming and blood was everywhere. Somehow she managed to get out without any major injuries. With the exception of a few cuts and bruises, she was okay. On her way out, a man who was not as lucky, grabbed her leg and she didn't have it in her to just leave him there. She had to help him. Of course, she had no idea who he was or whether he was involved with those people who did this or not but she was going to be a doctor and thus she couldn't ignore someone in need of help. As it turned out, the man worked for the Riley Syndicate in Los Angeles, his name was Adrian Riley and he was the underboss of the Riley Syndicate. Up to this day, Leyla didn't know anything about the mob world and maybe it was a bit too naive of her but Adrian made her an offer she couldn't refuse: To show his gratitude to her for saving his life, he offered to take her to LA and pay for her studies. Obviously there was a string attached: Once she was a doctor, she would be working for the Riley Syndicate off the books.

She has a big scar on the left side of her chest, above her heart, from a man who once was her best friend. But when he confessed to her he wanted to make her his wife and she refused, he freaked out and attacked her with a knife, with the promise, if he couldn’t be happy with her, no one could. The event didn’t make her bitter and she still sees the good in everyone. But she does find it harder to truly trust someone now.

Sometimes she wonders if it was the right choice but it wasn't like everyone who worked for them was a bad person. And she also got to treat and help a fair amount of people who worked at their businesses, who had nothing to do with the crime side of the story. It's probably her way of sweet talking things but someone had to do the job and at the end of the day she gets to live her dream and helps people, that should really be all that matters. She never told her family and friends about the Rileys and pretends she's just a normal doctor. The less they know, the better.

Biography:

Trigger warnings: Adoption, serious sickness, death of a family member, broken family, drug addiction, alcohol addiction, overdose, depression. Leyla was born in London, England to a very wealthy family. Her father, Gregory Quinn is a very well known crime lawyer and probably represented the worst of the worst in the crime business, while her mother, Evangeline Quinn was a simple housewife who dedicated her life to her three children. Andrew, her big brother is older by six years while her little sister, Lily is younger by two. Their family life was quite wonderful while Leyla was growing up. At a very young age, Leyla found out that she was adopted. She obviously know that since she didn't looked like her siblings or her mom and dad. She didn't really care since she adored her mother. Her father, was usually out of town for business which meant that her mother was everything for Leyla and her siblings. When Leyla was around the age of 12 her mother sadly got diagnosed with leukemia which made a huge impact on their family life. Gregory came home often to help his wife and the kids and basically did everything in his power to keep the family together in this hard time. Sadly, after two years of fighting the disease, Evangeline passed away. This broke the whole family. Andrew the oldest brother decided to join the army as a coping mechanism while Leyla tried to keep it together and help her little sister as well. At the age of 15 Gregory Quinn decided to move his whole family to Vancouver due to his business schedule. Moving to a new country, a new town and a new life was very hard for still grieving Leyla. She didn't quite choose the best people to hang out with and ended up hanging out with some questionable people, doing very shady things like underage drinking and worst of all, drugs. She hid it from her father who was away most of the time but, when they found out, they were sure to send her to a rehab facility to improve her behavior. Nothing really helped, Leyla came back each time more and more angry at her absent dad. After finally graduating high school, she became very interested in being a private investigator and opening her own practice office. As she told her father about her new idea, he rejected it as he didn't trust Leyla. This decision caused a huge fight between Gregory and Leyla which ended up in him cutting her off and kicking her out of their residency. With hard work, Leyla could accomplish a license and did open her own practice office. She's still struggling with sobriety and getting into a lot of trouble due to her job but, trying her best really. Who knows what's waiting for Leyla in the near future.
