His eyes scanned the tables, all of the papers soaking up all of the coffee from the spill. “You think any of this is savable? Maybe a blow dryer would help?” He questioned with a shrug of his shoulders. Elijah wasn’t really sure how any of it would be saved, hopefully there was some kind of electronic insurance and files that were able to be printed again. “Do you have those files saved? The library will allow you do print out fresh copies.”
“Do you? A blow dryer? I hope you’re joking” A blow dryer would makes everything much worse. She scratched her head as she tried to figure out what to do. “I don’t know...”

Darius reached for napkins himself, despite the woman still being pissed at him. He could understand it, as he started placing napkins on the table to help soak up some of the liquid that had been spilled. “Alright,” he didn’t want to get angry in response to her, “again, I’m sorry,” Darius said as he helped dry the papers on the table by lightly dabbing on them. “it’s not like I did it on purpose.”Â
She didn’t mean to be rude or cause any useless drama but, honestly? Who wouldn’t be pissed at this situation? “It’s okay, it’s not like you meant to do this...” She said letting out a sigh.

Sloane slipped down into the seat and shook her head. “Well, Lila being back in town, the cops still not finding who attacked me, and the studio doing renovations. It’s just been a lot but I’m dealing,” she said with a shrug of her shoulders because she was in fact dealing; it may not have been well but she was dealing. “You free this weekend? Maybe an out of town adventure can be good for the two of us.”
“These shits still don’t know who attacked you? Girl, let me investigate, I bet of you. I am sure I will find the answers you were looking for and bring this man or women down.” She offered, she was genuinely concerned about her best friend and always tried to convince her to let her help. “Yes, for you, I’m always free.”

Orion could feel the blush on her cheeks as Leyla’s soft skin brushed against hers. She’d gotten better with the nervous overtime. Thoughts of their first time together, her first time with a girl, haunted her a bit. She was so painfully new to it, with apologies and giggles. Luckily, Leyla felt like the best option to teach her what she needed to know. She’d grown with her confidence when it came to flirting with girls, but it was never something she did in public. So, the touch still brought a flush over her skin. “You’re a tease.” She whispered as if someone hearing would be the end of the world.
“I don’t know. I’ve been locked in my room writing Valentine’s Day cards to go to production. Feels hopelessly pathetic considering how forever alone I’m going to be.” Orion shook her head. “You and your big brain make me and my little desk job feel silly.” It wasn’t even a desk job.
Leyla was both awkward and confident when it came to her relationships with anyone really. On one hand, she always know she was friendly, flirtatious and even funny but, on the other hand she was a huge overthinker, obsessive and manipulative. She couldn’t help any of that. For the good or the bad parts of her. “I know” She said smiling a devilish smile at Orion. “You’re not alone, Orion.” She said as she took Orion’s hand and placed a soft kiss on top of it. “Why are you doing this? Putting yourself down like this? Don’t you know your self worth?”

Jace sat across from her with his sandwich in front of him. “You really know how to make a guy come crawling with food in hand,” he murmurs with a low chuckle as he glances towards the files on her desk, picking up his sandwich and taking a bite. He waits for his bite to be done before he begins to talk again. “So, what kind of cases are you working this week? Photographing the Mayor with strippers and drugs yet?”
Leyla kept her eyes on Jace as she smirked at his comment. “I know my shit, okay?” She said with a devilish look. “No Mayor and any strippers unfortunately...but, there’s a huge celebrity cheating case. Very interesting.” She nodded “What about you? Anything interesting in Jace’s wonderland?”

“Right…” he trailed off with a frown. Alright, well, this was officially a train wreck. Not a great start to the day by a long shot, most certainly not for the young woman. “Is there something that would?” August asked, guilt leaving a tinge of hope in his tone that at the very least he might be able to ease the burden slightly. Now did not seem like the right time to mention that keeping an actual paper trail seemed very old school of her, a compliment to dedication that would likely backfire on him. “I’ve got decently legible handwriting? Good at making phone calls?”Â
It’s not that she was trying to e rude but, honestly? Who would be calm and accepting in a situation like this? All of her hard work went down the drain. “I really don’t think you can do anything to help...” She said as she let out a sigh “I’m a private investigator and this was a huge case I’ve been working on, everything was printed on that page, some of these stuff wasn’t even on my laptop.” She said letting out a soft sigh.

“Thank you. You have a beautiful face yourself, Ley,” she stated, returning the compliment. She had always been interested in what Leyla did for work and even though she wasn’t able to give her details, she would always listen to what the other could tell her. “You know I love the juicy ones, too. I’ve been fine. Just dealing, that’s all. You know how that goes,” she said with a shrug of her shoulders. “We definitely need a night out, though, and soon.”
“I try” She replied as she put her hair behind her ears. Even though she was modeling from time to time, she truly felt awkward whenever someone told her that she was beautiful. Not that she didn’t believe in it, she just never felt like it was an important part of her. “Dealing with what?” She asked as she leaned back against her chair. “We do...I need a break.”

Sometimes it felt like one big tease. She didn’t mind it really, because Leyla was someone she trusted, someone who would never push her two far. Orion wondered if she was taking more than she was giving sometimes. She expected so much from people, keeping her secrets. Her whole life existed under the surface really. “Maybe get a neapolitan and go all the way with it.” She giggled softly from across the table.
Orion felt a little desperate to change the subject. “So, how have you been? Keeping busy?” It felt odd to have a friend with a real big girl job. Orion wondered if she’d ever have that. She worked from home most of the time, driving herself mad trying to come up with the cheesiest things to write in Birthday Cards.
Leyla was a huge flirt, she could flirt her way out of anything really. She didn’t mean it most of the time but, with Orion, it was different. She was like a little lion cub who is waiting to finally grow up and roar. She felt this energy in Orion for sure. “I’m down with whatever you offer, beautiful.” She said as she stroked Orion’s cheek “I’ve been busy with too many cases and not enough time to solve. What about you?”

“Fucking assholes,” she repeated the commented again, looking down at the coffee splatter on her own shirt. “Thanks,” she took the napkin from the other woman. Sadie pressed the napkin against her shirt, though she knew it wouldn’t really do much. “Did your stuff get ruined?” Sadie felt like she had seen the brunette before, working but she hadn’t talked to her all that much before. “I wish they sold alcohol here after that,” she shook her head with the comment, “a little Bailey’s in my coffee would take the edge right off and prevent me from bitching them out.”Â
“Sometimes I hate people for being people, there’s no other explanation.” She said as she let out a soft sigh while still looking at the women. “You’re welcome” It was those little things that drove Leyla absolutely mad. “Some papers I’ve been working on for some time but, thankfully, nothing else.” She said as she pointed at the untouched laptop and camera. “Oh, for sure...” She agreed with the women with every beat of her heart. “Or something stronger” She partly joked but who know. “I’m Leyla, and you might be?” The Brit asked with a smile.

Sloane laughed and shook her head putting her hands up playfully. “No, thank you. I know what my face looks like with bruises and mine just healed so not looking for that to happen again.” The woman let her hands fall into her lap and nodded her head with a shocked face. “I know, I know. If only you could. I mean who doesn’t love a good cheating scandal? Anyways, how have you been otherwise? Hopefully better than what this morning is giving you .”
Leyla loved and absolutely adored Sloane. She couldn’t harm her in any way even if she made her extremally mad. “You’ve got a pretty face, Slo” She said smirking at her best friend “It’s a juicy one too! Un...I've been okay I guess. How about you?”

Yeah, okay, she could see where having coffee spilled all over your shit could make you a little hostile, but Rowan was also human, and she didn’t respond well to being yelled at. At least not unless she was getting paid to… “Maybe watch where you put your bag next time, genius?” she responded, immediately going into defensive mode. “Clear walkways. It does wonders at maintaining a civilized society.”
Leyla looked down at the bag on the floor and then back at the women standing in front of her. She wasn’t having her attitude, especially since it wasn’t her bag who caused this situation. “Oh, you’re blind, I get it. Because, if you looked for a moment before responding like a smartass, you’d see my bag sitting in the chair next to me. You can say that you’re sorry and move with your day, princess.” She said with the most cynical tone ever.

Leyla knew how to make Orion blush at this point, though it wasn’t very hard. Her doe eyes popped up as the other girl looked down at her menu. “Share?” She inquired as if she hadn’t heard, when it was very clear she heard. It felt silly to be over something so innocent with a friend, but while she loved to be a cool girl, she just wasn’t. “Sure.” She responded anyway, smiling softly as she leaned back in the booth. “Chocolate or Vanilla?” Her voice chimed in it’s candy-like tone.
Leyla know Orion’s pressure points which made her even laugh on the inside whenever she pressured her. She didn’t do anything to make her feel insecure or mad, she was truly into her. Orion wasn’t as open as Leyla was about her sexuality for her own reasons in which Leyla couldn’t judge and won’t judge for that matter. “We can mix them both.” She offered with a devilish smirk.

Elijah looked on as the patron walked off, quickly grabbing some napkins and jumping off to attempt to save some of the paperwork scattered across the table. “Can you believe the nerve of some people?” He questioned hearing the bell attached to the door ring. He paused for a moment thinking how someone could be so careless and walk off so they didn’t have to deal with the consequences, fucking coffee shops. “Hopefully everything isn’t too damaged, are you alright?”
Not only someone bumped into her and spilled their drink on her and the table, everything on her table was soaked with black thick coffee. It looked like a true mess. The laptop, camera and paper work. Leyla didn’t say anything, she was in pure shock. The one who did it got away while Leyla was left behind to deal with this mess. She stood there trying not to freak.

The collision caught Alma off guard a table away, and she had just barely been able to keep her own drink from spilling. The crash resonated through that corner of the coffee shop, and she stood up with the set of napkins she’d stolen in anticipation of her own shitty luck.
“The layout of this place is terrible,” She pointed out, handing the woman the napkins. “They shove as many people in here as they can and no one has a conscience during lunch hour. I can spite the manager enough to get you a free refill if you want.”
The coffee shop was indeed crowded midday and since Leyla adored their fresh coffee and baked goods she tolerated how unmotorable it was to actually sit there and work. Nothing a good set of headphones can’t fix but, still. She was so over this thing already. “I am never sitting here again, stupid of me.” The brit said as she rolled her eyes at the situation. “Please do while I try and recover everything...”
